"Arrived a few minutes early at 3.15pm for our 3.30pm booking. Very warm welcome from blonde waitress at bar. Very quickly seated by dark haired waitress with glasses who wasn 't very friendly from the start. Pub was fairly busy on arrival but soon became pretty quiet, perhaps explaining our tail end of service poor experience. Wine list had to be chased as didn 't arrive. Drinks also had to be chased. Service to actually place our order had to be chased as we were seemingly abandoned after asking for a few minutes to chose our meals after being asked for our order only a couple of minutes after arrival. Further service had to be chased from our dead zone later in the meal. These were details only, very annoying but par for the course these days sadly. The main and more significant issue was the quality of the roast beef. Tough to the point that you could not cut it. Also delivered not as requested in terms of cooking so lots of back and forth to get our meat cooked as we had asked. Numerous veg were cold or luke warm. Several yorkshire pudding way beyond crisp to the point of being burnt. Excessive salt on majority of veg. Manageress arrived fairly quickly and was initially responsive but the experience at this stage was already hugely spoiled. Replacement food was much better but by that stage we had been put off the whole lunch and to reflect this were offered 2 glasses of wine and a portion of custard to compliment our dessert! This place has been unreliable since the start of the Giles ownership. The family attitude to customers is poor. We asked for the manager to review the bill to reflect the poor experience and ended up being passed a phone to talk to the manager who had gone home. This some 3 hours after we entered the pub due to the awful experience we had encountered."

"Lovely meal in a nice setting. My only criticism is that we ordered 3 poppadoms and when they came there were also 3 dips which we had not ordered. I assumed they were complementary as we had not ordered them and were not asked if we would like some.. There are restaurants that do give these complementary so didnt raise it as an issue. We tried a little of each but didn't really want them. Again when the waiter came to remove the plates he took the uneaten dips away without enquiring whether we wanted to keep them on the table to eat with our main course. So I was not impressed when there was a charge for the dips on the bill. I did not raise it at the time as this meal was at the beginning of an evening to celebrate the life of my late husband and didn't want to spoil it. The charge was only £3.00 but I do not find it acceptable to have to pay for items put on the table that weren't ordered. If dips are automatically put on the table when purchasing poppadoms there should not be a charge or it should be made clear on the menu. "previous purchase an online delivery campaign and all good. but tonight (27/2/2021) was the service and eating terrible. first was delivered completely wrong order. Finally, the food has been exchanged and correct order arrived, but was now cold. poppadome smashed and they had missed a part of our order. food tasted poor and quantity/quality far below the previous standard. will not order there again. when I called them for the wrong order, champayne express was no longer informed and accepted. but I didn't catch the new name and the reception had an old name on it."

"Myself and my family booked in and was looking forward to a nice family meal, arrived 10 minutes early and was promptly shown to table and offered drinks Kids starters came and was ok, however main course meals arrived, all good except mine, king prawns in garlic I had to cut/ jack through them with a steak knife Then my ribeye steak and mushroom was to say the least cold, my partner had ordered medium well so can only presume mine had been sat on the pass for a while) The lady serving us was quick to offer to replace the prawns, however the steak was only mentioned when the plates were being taken away Most disappointing was the lady was left to deal with everything and the management didn't come and speak to me or even acknowledge that there had been a problem Not great to say the least"

"Food was great but I ordered at 5.54 and the food was due at 7.20. So hour and a half wait, but the food didn’t arrive until 8.05pm. Rang the restaurant at 7.35pm to see where it was and the guy said 5 minutes. 20 minutes later food hadn’t arrived so I logged that it was late and had a text to say it was delayed until 8.05pm called again and the guy was rude, he again said 5 minutes so I mentioned the text I had received and he said that JustEat randomly send those texts and don’t have any idea on time scales. Food arrived at 8.05pm as per the text message so I asked for a refund. I received £3 back, which isn’t good enough as I had waited overs two hours since ordering. I wouldn’t have minded if the restaurant was honest when I called as I could have collected my order. The driver dumped the food on my doorstep and glared at me as I had requested a refund minutes before it arrived. Food was lovely but the service has put me off."
