"We were in Bute for a day trip. Wandering on the streets we came across this cute Brasserie. What caught our eye was the decoration related to music. In the shop window they were selling a brilliant set of Shopping List sheets called: Chopin Lizt . I got them. Once inside the waiter couldn 't have been more friendly and helpful. Nice conversation, stories and environtment. In the menu, the only chicken burger was spicy. I asked him if they had a non-spicy chicken burger. He apologized for not having it. I order the spicy one. One minute later he came back with the news that somebody was going to the local butcher who provides daily the burgers and other stuff) to ask for a non-spicy chicken burguer. The burger was delicious. Fresh and tasty with homemade chips and nice salad. Hughly recommended. Well done Tim and Ann. You made our trip even more enjoyable."

Delicious food, reasonable prices and relaxed atmosphere. A particular delight were the 'fries ', which were actually small chunks of potato which had been cooked in olive oil. Very tasty.

Tim Saul and his wife run this fantastic little restaurant/music shop/bar in Rothesay. The food is good and unpretentious and the all day breakfast is unbeatable. The ambience is very relaxed with visitors and locals alike engaging in lively banter whilst aspiring and established musicians can sample the musical instruments available for purchase. In the short period we were there for lunch Tim sold 2 mandolins and a bodhran while serving meals and drinks and chatting with all and sundry. We could have stayed all day drinking coffee and just hanging out but we had a ferry to catch.

I saw that another person gave this awesome place 2 stars for not being open, and I just had to write my own review. Me and my wife visited Bute in the middle of 2015 and during our 5 day stay on Bute we visited Brechin's no less than 5 times. It was our office, our coffee shop, lunch spot and the owners treated us like family. It was a great place with freshly made soup and home baked bread rolls. The coffee was proper espresso made americano and lattes which we enjoyed very much (I think the only place on the island that didn't use nescafe). The place have great wifi and cool atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit when on Bute!

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
