"When we travel to tourist places, from time to time it is good to break the rules and visit those places that awaken our curiosity because they drew our attention to a novel that we read, or a film that fascinated us... this is the case of the 2 Molinos Café in Paris, where the French film AMELIÉ, nominated to Oscar 4s in 2001, and winner of several César awards. This unique Café Brasserie (café-restaurant, which serves coffee, alcoholic beverages and food at the same time), is located in the area of Montmartre, in the number 15 rue Lepic; in the corner with rue Cauchois. Its name corresponds to that it is between two mills: up the Moline Blute Fin is located and down the famous Moline Rouge (famous cabaret built in 1889). The owner put a photo of Amelié in the cafe, once his business became a visiting point for thousands of people. The Service is good, they serve you the famous creme brulée and the coffee has aroma and is tasty... otherwise, it's like any other Country Brasserie."

I'm sure without the movie, this coffee would be more unnoticed. But if you go this way, I recommend you come in. Food and acceptable price, even cheaper than the average in Paris. Meat cake, spicy point, but very good. The dignified onion soup and the creme brulee of the dessert, delicious. And surely the best, the service very nice, though slow in peak hours.

The food was fine, the service slow but not rude, and I did enjoy the Amelie nods. However, the toilets were especially grimy, with one loo sans lid and no hot water running (the tap was jammed) and the entire restaurant could do with a bit of a revamp. As an iconic destination restaurant the decor could have been either truer to the film, or just a bit cleaner all round. I'd dine elsewhere. View menu

we went to the cafe because of the movie “Amélie". The food was only acceptable, but it did not spoil the moment we enjoyed from the movie, with big posters hang on the wall, the bar Amelie worked behind and the mysterious restroom. The service was good with energetic and enthusiastic waiter and waitress. If you go for the show Moulin Rouge, a moment rest in Cafe des Moulins is highly recommend before the show. The cafe is just 5 min walk away from the theatre.

Cafe des Moulins is located very close to Pigalle subway station and Moulin Rouge. After a sunny day in Sacre-coeur, skip the funicular and walk down the road. You will find the cafe in one of the streets going down to Pigalle. The cafe's interior was changed if you compare it with the movie. It is easily understood that much of cafe's fame comes from the movie as none of the food or drinks are attractive. The prices are at Paris standards, which is generally expensive. If you are a fan of the movie, you will like the place, if not I would not recommend.
