"Pretty disappointing. During our trip to cheddar we visited this cafe having a hankering for a cheese toastie. We’d seen the cafe featured on Adam Richman’s new show and were very keen to get our hands on it. However when I asked at the till for it the staff were quick to say that they weren’t doing toasties. Although a bit miffed I opted for a cheddar cheese pasty, since we were in cheddar I felt it criminal to miss out on a cheddar dish. Sadly again there were none left. Although it was only 2.30 on a Friday afternoon we understood, we left the cafe quickly and nipped across the road for a cheese board at Lion Rock tea rooms. We theorised that maybe they had ran out of cheddar for the toasties on this early Friday afternoon or maybe the culinary expert competent enough to make such an intricate dish had been taken ill. Either way we were pleased that the afternoon ended at tea room across the road!"

Lovely friendly staff. So much choice on the menu from food to drinks. Toastie was delicious with thick bread.

This cafe is really nice, with some outdoor seating available. The portions are generous and the peppermint tea is wonderful.

Really yummy, fresh tasting food. Great selection of hot drinks, including local brands of tea. Service was efficient and friendly. The cafe has lots of room to sit indoors, clean toilets, and a lovely outdoor seating area with a great view of the surrounding area. View menu

Dropped in for coffee and cake having walked up the Gorge. Coffee really good and cake excellent Somerset Cider Apple Brandy fruit cake clotted cream a must. Staff friendly and helpful. And a really fearless Robin hopping around the tables looking for crumbs! Try this place.

Nice food dog friendly, it's a bustling place was very busy when we went, but they coped well. However considering they have the Rolls Royce of coffee machines (La Marzocco) the latte was like a warm milk shake. Served in one of those dreadful 90's tall glasses, it was weak totally under extracted, however the cake we had with it was lovely.

Cream tea was good and the pies are really good! Unfortunately their 'dog friendly ' policy isn 't exactly 'friendly '.... We 've been told that I can 't have my 9 month old puppy in my own lap due to their policy and from hygienic point of view, however the lady on the table in front of us had her schnauzer in her lap and she wasn 't told off it was inconsistent and rude not to follow their own rules, won 't mention the tone was far away from friendly. If you 're a dog owner I will recommend to consider one of the other many dog friendly places there View menu

Such a lovely location for a cafe. We passed by this on our way to the caves and wanted to try it out. We ordered the Sandwich and Toasted bread with salted beef which was okay. Felt like it’s too much bread. However, we haven’t had the chance to try other sandwiches. The milkshake was nice tho, creamy and tasty. Just a bit disappointed to one of the staff which we asked to clear the table for us, said she will ask someone to do it, the next thing- our order came still with dirty plates on the table. Felt sad for the young man who had no other choice but to take them while serving foood.

It's only a jacket potatoes but seriously the jackets in cafe gorge are the best ever. I visited with 2 friends we all had them with various fillings but all including the best cheddar cheese in the gorge. Coleslaw is amazing, must be a secret ingredient that makes it so good lovely local chutney to accompany the simple but fresh dressed leaves that add to the presentation. No room for pudding but couldn't resist bringing home the pear frangipane with Clotted cream also a cheese scone. Both lush. Food, staff service cleanliness better than anywhere else in cheddar. Well done guys, you're the best. Tracey. X

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."
