"Our first night in Biarritz and we just walked to the "Les Halles" area for dinner - lots of choices but most places were full outside by 8:30pm. Cafe Jean is at the end of what I would call restaurant way, its nice - the meals looked great on peoples plates so we decided to give it a try. Not knowing much French we "winged" it and got the specials - Fish for two and the kids split a steak. The fish was EXCELLENT. The steak was OK - tons of seasoning, cooked just right, but a borderline curt of meat. Not a Ribeye or filet, but OK. French Fries and the Salad were very good. Two glasses of wine that were very small pours for $3.50 euro each. Fish was $48 euros (but for 2) The steak was $22 euros. The ONLY downside was what I would say below average service. We never were checked on once we were served, and could have used more water and another drink..."

It was quite full but it is worth waiting because we ate very good shrimp, mussels, sepia, salad. Spanish food of good quality.

Ultra welcoming and professional, good quality food well cooked and presented; ample portions, a short menu with some local specialities.

Great food, excellent lady as front of house, and very lively. Queues for tables, but you could have a drink while you waited. It's definately the place to go, lots of locals here.

My wife and I ate here and we had a very good time. An a cappella men's choirs was singing French songs in honor of Bastille day. Was a great treat. We had two starters that were very good. Prawns and rice and tuna. My main was excellent. Tuna and veggies. My wife had duck and frites. She was not so pleased. Service was great. The menu was very limited

Went on the evening of 14th July Bastille Day. We tried to get the attention of a waitress to find out how long we would have to wait and after ignoring us for 5 minutes she rudely told us to just wait. Only for another waitress Charlotte who saw our plight and got us seated quickly I reckon we would have been ignored for another 30 minutesThe food was tasty but was slow in coming out of the kitchen to the point where we paid the bill and left before the desert my wife ordered appeared. I understand it was on of the busiest evenings of the year but there is no excuse for rudeness

Didn't book butmanaged to get a table staff very friendly and speak English menu has the dishes in English we had gambas and hamburger wine and crime brûlée all delicious came to 64 eurosThe above is positive then the rain came and the sliding door shut a couple of tables got moved In it was rammed. Not sure why door was closed as still as blind still up so couldn't see how you would get wet and it got hotter and hotter it became unbearable we would have stayed for more wine and coffee but couldn't cope the table also left after the mains they were too hot too such a shame. Can you put air con on or next time leave the door open so those of us at the back don't feel hemmed in and in a sauna
