"When we walked in sat down the waiter immediately recommended a dish for dinner promised it would be a large slab of the most tender beef that would melt like butter in your mouth My husband opted for that rare my...daughter I had other items. The beef came and it was a small piece of shoe leather filled with gristle well done! My husband is loathe to complain but he said to us, this does not taste very good. We had a tiny taste (gross) called the waiter over. He left the plate on the table the head waiter came over to say it was very good left the plate there. Then the owner came over after a long time and said the beef was fine, it was half eaten we were going to pay for it. My daughter politely explained to each of them in French that the dish was unacceptable could they please replace it. They said they would do something but nothing was happening so we asked for the bill. There it was still on there and we asked them to take it off. The owner became very rude, grabbed my daughter’s cell phone off the table and then CALLED THE POLICE! Does this sound like a pattern? My daughter said it was not worth having the police come as they always side with the restaurant so we were forced to pay the whole bill to get out to get the cell phone back. We are a middle age couple with daughter studying in Paris and have never been treated so badly EVER. Please go somewhere else...."

Unfortunately we only found this place on our last day but if we hadn’t we’d have been here everyday! Great friendly staff and great food! Not the cheapest of places but ever euro is spent well! Soft music, great espresso and the breakfast is the...best!! Give this place a visit!!!

Got a cosmo cocktail in happy hour which tasted just like fruity water. So that was dissapointing. Boyfriend got a beer. He seemed pretty content. We were hungry so we decided to order a plateau de charcuterie and cheese. It was OK. Nothing special. The...meat wasn't the best. The cheese was nice though. Overall. Not really impressed.

This is the second time we've dined at Cafe Menilmontant over a two year period. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good and good portions. We just had two entrees and shared a dessert which was sufficient as we were dining...out that night. there were no hassles from the staff for the small order. The food was delicious. We're here for a few months and though live at Bastille will definitely return.

We were two couples arriving well-after lunch, but well before dinner. They accommodated us. Most restaurants close at this time of day. We ordered a chicken and rice dish that was nothing special. We ordered the Foie Gras and it was special. One of the...best. I would recommend searing it first rather than serving as a charcuterie type item. The other couple had a salad, app and fries. All were good. Beers and wine were special.
