"In an unassuming corner of a nondescript street sits a tiny restaurant with high tables and chairs, a bar and a kitchen, the Casa Caribena doesn't look like much from the outside, but didn't your mother warn you not to judge a book by its cover.Inside Casa Caribena awaits fantastically good food, cooked to perfection and with obvious love by the proprietor, a jolly Dominican gent with obvious gusto for cooking. The dishes are a melange of classic caribbean dishes and some that were no doubt invented right here in Vienna. The result is an extensive menu with a great many good options to choose from.I chose an avocado soup and a red-tuna steak. The soup was surprising, full and flavorful and good enough that I would have asked for a second plate if I didn't have the tuna coming. And the tuna, man o man, the tuna was out of this world. It's easy to overcook red tuna and make leathery, it's just as easy just to give it a brief tour of the grill and call it a day, but cooking red-tuna and seasoning to perfection requires experience and talent. The sauce was so good I asked for some bread just to sponge it up. And there awaited a further pleasant surprise. The bread came, obviously fresh and lightly toasted over a grill (as any good Caribbean cook would know). I took a bite and the aroma surprised me, it took me a while to place it. It was the smell of a long forgotten meal in Miami, must be twenty years ago. There's something about how they make their bread that sets it apart. I don't know what it is, but it works. I guess you couldn't get any more authentic than that. The cocktails are brilliant, I recommend the Rum Sour.Be warned, this is a cash-only joint, come prepared."

It's nice to sit by the river and enjoy some Caribbean food. Nice music too. Try the mango or the "jerk" chicken.

we went 2 times to casa caribena. for the first time we had the pleasure to listen to live latin music and eat a delicious meal: house brot with butter and garlic, huh with mango and grilled calamari with ananas. unbelievable! and the staff very friendly. the second time we went to the summer place, on the summer stage. there were fewer meal times available, but they were good again (that was very good, but the garnel dry.)

I don’t know what to say. I’m just in love with this little restaurant. The food is delicious, the cocktails excellent and the stuff is really friendly and considerate. I had the Ceviche de pulpo and grilled garlic bread as starter. You have to try it! As main dish I had Calamares a la Hawaii (with grilled pineapple). You wouldn’t believe how tasty this combination is. I also recommend the Mojitos. I will definitely be back soon and try more of the delicious food and the other cocktails.

We had a delicious and satisfying dinner at Casa Caribena. I enjoyed mostly the seafood dishes: Gambas al Ajillo and Pago Rojo in Coconut Sauce were excellent. I also had a mojito which was made with the traditional hierba buena (unlike regular mint).I believe that the meat dishes were less traditional, although I only tried the Jamaican Jerk Chicken which was good although not the classical version. The service was timely and always with a smile and the ambiance was very good as well.It will definitely not be the last time we visit Casa Caribena.

a pleasant restaurant in the Wiener servitenviertel near the rossauerlände underground station. colorful interieur with lots of art works and an open kitchen, where everything is freshly prepared by the chefs. the homemade tropical limonade was a real tasty bite that was also made fresh with many brownish limettes and sugar. we both took vegetarian meals and a rice dish with broken, fried plantains. the rice dish was very tasteful and full and tasted even better with a dash of the typical chili-infused oil, which was provided on the table. the part of the one-pot was somewhat too small for the price, but also very good taste. all ingredients were of very good quality and the friendliness of...

I went there with my girlfriend. The restaurant is located at the corner of Glassergasse 15, there are a couple of steps to get in. The stuff was very nice, they offered a small cup of the soup of the day if you're new. We ordered the food and when it was served it looked like a joke. There were small pieces of meat (maybe 30g of meat?), which were mostly bone, on top of some grilled vegetables. I can do this in 5 min. at home since I'm 9 years old. I think that if you pay someone to cook for you, he's gotta do a better job than you could have done. The quantities were ridiculous, and the taste was nothing special. While I was eating, for the first time in my life, I started thinking where I...

We recently met friends for dinner at summer stage and decided to try Casa Caribena. Given the location, their menu is limited which is OK, but the food was really not very good. We waited a very long time for the food to be brought to our table, and when it finally arrived it looked like it had just been slapped on the plate. The food was swimming in oil and quite bland, very disappointing for Caribbean food. Also, the prices were very high considering what was being served to us. It was not good value at all. On a positive note, our waitress was nice and friendly. Perhaps this place is better suited for drinks only. The location along the canal is nice if you can find a table that is not s...
