"When we addressed this with the owner, he became angry, aggressive, and rude. He was even about to shut the door in my face when his wife appeared with a knife in hand. I asked her why she was approaching me with a knife, and her response was, “I’m busy and working!” She was very aggressive and seemed unable to handle any constructive feedback. My husband, hearing the commotion, stepped in, but she directed her aggression at him too, asking how old we were, which felt completely irrelevant. She then boasted about being 67 and still working hard. I asked for a refund since the service did not match the price we paid, but she flatly refused, stating they don’t do refunds. I noticed other customers enjoying their cafetière coffee served in proper china. When we mentioned this to the owners, they justified it by saying those customers were friends of theirs. So what about us? We were paying guests too! This was a deeply upsetting experience for both of us, and we plan to report this to the local police, the tourist board, and trading standards. The charming tea room will not be so pleasant once we’re done with them. We've never been treated so poorly as customers, and being threatened with a knife by a senior was particularly shocking. I strongly advise against visiting this place unless you want to be treated as a friend with respect and proper service."

This lovely tea shop offers a great variety of food and drinks. I enjoyed sitting outside on a beautiful summer day with my dog, and the staff was incredibly friendly and polite. I will definitely return!

A charming and peaceful spot to enjoy a drink along with some cream tea or sandwiches. The delightful little garden exudes a cottage garden atmosphere and is very accommodating for social distancing. It's the perfect place to unwind after a day of fossil hunting on the nearby beach.

One of my favorite travel memories in the UK was discovering this charming little tea spot near Kilve Beach. I didn’t have high expectations, but to my surprise, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! I find myself daydreaming about the scones every day; they were soft and fluffy. The service was lovely as well.

This charming tea room is located near the water, nestled within the gardens of an ancient ruin. You place your order for tea along with scones or cake at the kiosk, where they note your table number. Once your order is ready, it will be brought to your table. One of the highlights of this experience is the stunning view, complemented by delicious tea and food.

Gluten-free paradise! This place is an absolute gem, featuring plenty of outdoor seating in a lovely garden filled with birds and flowers. There's parking available right in front, as well as reasonable parking options nearby for those heading to the beach. The food is served in convenient boxes, making it easy to enjoy your meal at the beach. I can’t wait to come back. Thank you for catering to gluten-free options! View menu

"Based on the Bower inn’s website, my husband and I decided to book a table for dinner Sunday at 7:30pm. Based on the description of the pub’s passion for good food, local sourcing of ingredients and menu we we’re looking forward to our dinner. The pub itself also looked welcoming. Unfortunately, when we walked in we had a completely disappointing experience. We were immediately told we had three minutes to order before the kitchen closed even thought on the website the kitchen was open until 8pm, and we were asked for our drink order before we had even sat at our table or had looked at the menu. Things proceeded to go downhill from there. Service was poor. We had to chase staff to get wine or anything else we wanted once our meal was served. Meals came within 5 minutes of ordering and were clearly pre-cooked without much care for quality. Our salad was ice cold and clearly pulled directly from the fridge. A side of broccoli was nearly raw and the veg with the roast looked and tasted re-warmed. While the vegetarian burger was very good, the roast pork was average. We had to chase after staff to order a second round of drinks. All-in-all we were in and out in under an hour having had one of the most disappointing and up relaxing dinners ever when we’d expected to have an enjoyable and relaxing evening. We spoke to the assistant manager about the problems we’d had. She accepted they’d fallen short and took the appropriate action, but still we left feeling dissatisfied, rushed and disappointed. The Bower Inn clearly has potential to provide excellent hospitality, but they obviously need to be honest with customers on kitchen and bar closing times before bookings are accepted and need to then provide a decent level of service and food quality to match what they claim on their website."
