"Looks like a beach bar from the outside rather than a restaurant, so we didn’t have high hopes for this place and the lack of other customers didn’t allay our fears either; how wrong were we. We received a warm welcome and menus in English and Spanish. Lots of choice on the menu of traditional Spanish dishes, we chose one of their specialities; artichokes with pumpkin seeds, ham, salsa verde and lemon which they kindly left the ham off for me. It’s one of the nicest artichoke dishes I have had, we also had spinach and pine nut croquettes and roast peppers with onion and Melva fish. All the food was excellent with generous tapas portions. My partner had a meat dish that came with home-made chips then afterwards we had desserts; mango and coconut cake which was beautifully presented and packed with tropical flavour and an almond and cream caramel cake which was great but a little too sweet for me. Throughout our meal Juan the owner really engaged with us and his passion and knowledge of regional and seasonal food really showed through and ended up with an invitation to see his produce garden out the back. He grows herbs, broad beans, tomatoes, onions and other bits and bobs and uses them in the restaurant. We went away with a fresh lettuce and onion he insisted we have for supper! We can’t wait to come back here, lovely location overlooking the lake, delicious amazing value food and wine and lovely people."

Un sitio muy apañado para las noches de verano, y al lado del pantano que corre buena brisa. La comida muy buena y el personal muy amable. El servicio fue rápido, no esperamos mucho. View menu

Stopped in Bornos for a look with no knowledge of the place but were very pleasantly surprised by the village as a whole but especially this chiringuito down by the reservoir/river, looking out over the water with the mountains in the background. Super peaceful, super range of reasonably priced food, with great vibe and friendly staff. Really is worth a visit and we will definitely be going back to explore some more.
