"Everyone should experience the Craven Arms at least once in their life. Superbly situated in an elevated position over Wharfedale, you can enjoy yourself with some of the finest riverside walking before retiring for a well-deserved and well kept beer in this fabulous, characterful pub. There's a wide range of beers served by uber friendly bar staff. The experience starts here. You really shouldn't miss the opportunity to sample the food which is a cut above most pub food out there. Where else could you enjoy pan-fried wood pigeon? Even the veggie options are highly imaginative. Make sure that you're in the cruck barn which is straight out of an Asterix adventure. The large and slow burning open fire is a treat, especially if it's cold or wet. It's dog friendly too. Minor downsides? We had to wait about 15 minutes beyond the booked time to get our table and there was some faffing about with lighting whilst potential wedding venue punters were shown the possibilities. Staff readily apologised for the inconvenience, so these irritations were nowhere near being deal breakers."

The pub offers a stunning view and delicious food, making it a must-visit destination. Access to the pub is via a single road, but there is a car park located at the back.

Without doubt, this was the best pie, chips gravy we have ever had. I would genuinely drive 1.5 hours back just for that alone. It’s a proper N Yorks country pub serving a great pint amazing food- the gravy is a thing of beauty on its own!

I have been coming here for over 40 years and it still has its charm. A real old fashioned Yorkshire pub. Great beer and really good food. The only bad thing is that a lot of other people have discovered this gem and it gets quite busy. I will definitely keep going back though.

What a great pub. Stunning location, great food, friendly servers and most importantly fantastic draft beer. We visited while on holiday, having heard about as it is a film location for All Creatures Great and Small. The pub is full of character and has superb views. We can’t fault it.

I went to this restaurant with friends and family. The food was average, nothing outstanding. The wait for drinks was quite long, with us waiting half an hour after ordering before they finally arrived. The staff were friendly, but overall, I wasn't too impressed. I probably wouldn't go back in a hurry.

A charming pub with exceptional views but disappointing expensive food. Being a vegetarian I expect lack of choice- I ordered a veg lasagna that was absolutely dire. A very bland concoction served with microwaved garlic bread. My partner had some very average scampi chips and peas. A 2 for 1 in a city centre would be better. A shame as it’s got the very best setting

After spending the day with an old friend, we decided to visit the Craven Arms for dinner. We all had a fantastic evening there. The staff was friendly and provided prompt service, the food was terrific, and there was a great selection of wine and ales. The views across the Dales from the restaurant were absolutely breathtaking. It can get very busy, so I would recommend making a reservation before visiting. Overall, it is definitely worth a visit.

Staying a couple of miles away at Howgill Camping so thought how better to spend a few hours than walk up to the pub. In Appletreewick we found this delightful pub, a real pub, like pubs should be. After having a drink we decided to eat and I'm glad we did. I had the Chicken Burger and my wife, the Steak and Ale Pie, both were delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere friendly. So much so we returned the next day, this time we both had the Steak and Ale. If you want a real pub serving real food with a smile, you can't go wrong here.

What a wonderful building, with stunning views. We were camping close by came for a drink an evening meal. It was a beautiful sunny evening and the pub was busy, which is always a good sign. We ate inside the wonderfully traditional pub. The food was excellent, fish pie steak pie. There was a varied menu plenty of choice drinks wise. The staff were friendly and chatty. After the lovely meal we sat outside, just over the road on a bench for another couple of drinks. The scenery is stunning very relaxing to just sit take it all in. Loved the use of garden sheds as private little shelters to eat/ drink in, ingenious if the weather isn’t to kind. Would highly recommend a visit here.
