"Driftwood Cafe Bistro overlooking the pond in Agnew Park, Stranraer alongside the Marina came highly recommended. It's a very attractive spot with plenty of free parking nearby. Four of us had a lunch which was freshly prepared, nicely presented, tasted great, and was served with a smile. I'll add photos. I had no room for dessert which looked excellent, but we all agreed a return visit was a must. The owner gave us a warm welcome and was an absolute gem, much like the cafe. Highly recommended 5 eaterie. Tip: There's a children's play park alongside the cafe and a miniature railway, both of which seemed to be undergoing renovation ahead of the summer holidays."

Warm welcome. Great lunch with family which catered well for special dietary needs. Nothing was too much trouble, including putting tables and chairs in the sunshine for us! Highly recommend

This is a fantastic restaurant. I am Gluten Free and I can eat with pleasure at this clean friendly where you can have a conversation with friends with blaring music when you cannot hear yourself speak. Always eat there as it is situated in lovely surroundings. Swan pond, Childrens playpark and Marina.

Regular visitor to the Driftwood, staff are always friendly and if they have a quiet moment will chat, everyone is enthusiastic and want to know your views of the food. I really enjoyed the white bait, pulled pork and Cajun chicken plus it’s worth checking out the specials board. Plenty of food and good value. View menu

Popped in for lunch as we were a bit stuck for a dog friendly outdoor lunch on Monday (quite a few places are closed on Mondays). Service fab, food fab, small good selection of alcohol and lots of coffee etc. Chose smoked haddock on a cheesy homemade scone with poached egg and buttery sauce. It was beautiful and one of the nicest lunches we have enjoyed

The reviews of Driftwood sounded good, so we decided to have lunch there before getting the ferry at Cairnryan. Driftwood is quite a small cafe in a public park which has a free carpark beside it. Probably because they had a number of reserved tables, service was very slow. We had to ask for menus and the food took a while to arrive. We had the special chicken gougons in a wrap with chips, coleslaw and a side salad. All were excellent. There are separate municipal type toilets in the complex

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
