"We enjoyed a fabulous Christmas day meal at the Eaton Oak last Monday. My family and I have dined there before and the food was excepionally good the last time so it was no surprise that the festive fair was going to be good as well however they went above and beyond good. It was superb. The food and the service were excepional. I would thoroughly recommend eating here. The extensive menu is likely to please most palate's and I'm fairly certain that if you have specific dietary needs they would do their very best to accommodate you, because that is the sort of place it is and the staff go all out to please customers. Well done to all of you. Have a happy new year and I look forward to more visits to see you in 2024.. Food drinks: Absolutely top notch. Noteworthy details: The chef knows very well how to produce exceptionally good food."

Sophie is a great hostess! She is very attentive to our needs and is super friendly. The food is very flavourful, the portion sizes are pretty big, and the desserts are heavenly! Service: 5 Location: 5

Lovely pub/ hotel, good breakfast and friendly attentive staff. Only downsides were that 1. the bedroom faced the road and had only single glazing so was quite noisy. 2. Window paint work and bathroom grout needs a good clean. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 4

It was in the run up to Christmas and we booked a table for 6. The place was busy, food was served tepid, bland and not as described on the menu. Our deserts were returned by several of the party for being not acceptable. Not somewhere to go during December as they were not set up to cater on the evening we went there. Service: 2 Location: 5

Wonderful place. Stayed overnight Christmas day and everyone was helpful and friendly. The only niggle was that the room was on the colder side at night, but the room was overwise great. Lovely shower, bed was comfortable and no issue with noise outside the room. Breakfast was fantastic. Had the full English, no notes, everything was perfect. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

"This pub has a beautiful summer garden and we enjoyed watching the variety of wild birds that flittered around. Whoever maintains the garden does so with pride and with knowledge of how to create a wonderful space. The same pride and knowledge is not represented...in our experience of the food. It took over an hour to receive a burnt fish chips and a fish burger that was a tiny bit of cheap fish cake. The fish cake tasted unsurprisingly dreadful, more potato than fish, a frozen bought in effort and was returned uneaten. After the hour's wait the kitchen was closed so no alternative was offered. The fish chips were supposed to come with creamed peas, but instead came with plain frozen peas. The claimed home made tartare sauce was out of a jar. The batter was dark brown and bitter and clearly over cooked to the point of being burnt. The chips were equally over cooked and dry. In our view the chips were frozen not fresh. The chef needs to take a leaf out of the gardeners book and take some pride at what leaves their workplace, as we left hungry and bitterly disappointed. That food should never have left the kitchen in the state it was and is hugely disrespectful to the customer. The service was friendly but slow. We weren't offered an apology nor were we asked how the fish chips were, despite them clearly being picked at and mostly left. The pub wasn't busy with perhaps 4/5 tables occupied by the time we left. This pub can clearly do better judging by the over positive reviews. It manifestly failed for us, on our first visit as locals."
