"We had dinner at Expedit yesterday. It was so for the best dining experience in Vienna. The restaurant decor is kind of industrial, simple yet fresh and at night with lighting actually quite cosy.Tables are well sized for the number of PAX seated on them. The restaurant is overall quite spacious and not overcrowded with tables. The kitchen is open and allows - from some tables - to view the action. Chef is an "Italian Mama" and you can taste it!We had 2 antipasti, octopus salad with artichokes and potatoes and vitello tonnato. The veal with tuna sauce was one of the best i ever had, the octopus salad equally delightful. Then we had the different pasta meals, farfalle with veal ragout, safron risotto with prawns and ravioly with pumpkin-cheese filling, gemolata and sage butter. The veal ragout in the farfalle was tender as it can be, cooked and concentrated likely over hours to reach this stage. The courgette cubes in there were still crunchy. A fantastic taste, each ingredient could be indentified. The risotto was well balanced, the safron not overpowering as it is so easy to do. The rice was al dente and all very well seasoned. The prawns fresh and well cooked, not a hint of chewiness in them. The ravioli were a delight with there contrast of sweetish pumpkin filling and the very aromatic gemolata on top. The sage butter was subtle and complemented the pasta which was homemade and very thin.We did not have main courses as we did not know how one could eat a full menue with "antipasti", "primo piatti", "secondo piatti" and "dolce".We shared though a panna cotto with fruit sauce which was really a fantastic ending and highlight of the dinner. We had the Itynera Primitivo Salento Barrique IGT 2014, which was dark, full of fruit and aroma and went so well with the dinner. I love primitivo and enjoyed this to the fullest as in Hong Kong it is hard to get hold of a good one such as this.Service was very fast and very friendly indeed. We reserved already for coming Thursday to try other dishes of the chaning menue.Pricing is not budget but not high end either. And you do get what you pay for, in the very best sense. After a very bad New Years Eve "fine dining" experience this visit compensated well.Highly recommended."
