"What a shame such a lovely venue and the food did look good. We arrived without a booking on a Saturday and understand its a busy venue but all the staff were rude when we asked if we could just sit down for a quick drink. You can 't sit outside, defiantly not if you 're just having a drink. There were free tables the whole time we were there but got sat inside reluctantly. We ordered a snack bowl of deep fried jalapenos which were nice and had one drink. We then left and the bill came with 12.5% service charge on it. We asked if it could be taken off and were met with WHY? you had food! it got taken off in the end but it felt like becase we weren 't booked and we didn 't sit down for a full meal we weren 't worth bothering with. Such a shame customer service lets a wonderful venue down. Everyone was rude. Service: 1"

The Ginger Fox is the third of the Gingerman establishments and in my opinion the best by far.

Best food and service I have had in Sussex, and cheaper than the chains in Brighton. Way to go. Will be back.

I've been planning a visit for a long time, on Friday for lunch. the sunshine was outside and they had reserved us a table outside if we wanted what was a nice note. I didn't get the names of the brunette lady who welcomed us, but she was warm and attentive. our waiter donall was so beautiful and chatting, which is always beautiful. I appreciated his tips where I can find the magnificent sussex rose that I treated myself and gave me a birthday shield with truffles that was such a kind. the truffles were delicious!. I had the sea bream and it was divine. my friend had the Speck-Cop, again phenomenal. I can't wait to return.

Fantastic venue for lunch. I turned up early for a lunch appointment due to no traffic on M25. About 90 mins early. The restaurant was not even open yet, they found me a spot where I could work, brought me coffee and drinks until my colleagues arrived. Once they arrived and was ready to eat, the food was excellent. We all had a variety of starters and mains and not one thing to question, it was sublime. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone Andrew, would really like to take my wife there. Distance may be a challenge for lunch though. Would definitely recommend. "We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
