"The Gryffens Restaurant at the Duke's Head: Let’s be clear there are no complaints about food quality, service, ambiance, comfort. It’s probably one of the best places to go for lunch in Kings Lynn. However someone at the hotel is determined to bring shame on it. Since the New Year, we have eaten there twice. Since our previous visits it has been refurbished and there have been some price changes on the meals roughly a pound on each meal but inexplicably Fish and Chips has jumped by about five pounds (except Fridays). Now here’s the shaming bit. We've made two visits since the New Year. First visit gone were the small dishes of decent quality ketchup and mayonnaise that had always been provided on request. In their place was a selection of sachets but what sachets – the cheapest nastiest condiments you could ever hope to eat. When I rejected these the waitress went and found the proper stuff in the kitchen good on her. Second Visit – before eating there I popped into a cheap store and bought a pound bottle of Heinz Ketchup and a pound bottle of Heinz mayonnaise which I used when proffered the same muck as before. Whoever decided to buy this product should reconsider. And if they won’t the management should make them! Almost all outlets offer edible stuff whether in bottles or sachets so why can't Gryffens?"

It is self service buffet, but the choice and quality are good and the staff clear the dirty plates quite quickly.

Fantastic food, and excellent service from the very professional waiter. I ordered the haddock in batter, with lovely fat hand cut chips and mushy peas. It was very filling and most delicious. Only the beer let the meal down as it could have been a bit colder. The breakfast was also very good, full English, cereals yoghurt and fruits etc or continental, eggs to order. Maybe a tad expensive though if you are staying all week.

A nice little Restaurant within the Dukes Head Hotel. Fast friendly service. The set menu is well priced at £18 for two courses and £25 for three. This menu offers a choice of three mains which includes a vegetarian option. Similar options for starter and desert. Good solid food in the lovely atmosphere of this old hotel. A different dining experience is on offer in Turners Restaurant. More up-market/more expensive. No complaints in Gryffens and would visit again if in the area.

Mothers Day Carvery.Delicious food great service. We booked a table for Mothers Day, great welcome and we even had our name reserved on our table, which my girls loved.Prawn Cocktail was a delight, my fussy 6 year old was even accommodated with her request of a plain salad (which was not on the menu)Great selection at the Carvery, the chef was extremely friendly and greeted us well.Just about managed to squeeze in the Cheesecake for pud !Maybe a little pricey £50 for 1 adult 2 children. But very happy with our visit so would probably go again.

"My wife and I stayed here for a few days to celebrate my birthday. We chose Titchwell Manor due to its location on the A149. From here we can catch the Coasthopper up or down the coast. The bus stops are 100 metres outside the hotel. We were greeted in the car park and shown to our room behind the hotel. We had Basil number 21. It is a large comfortable room, with walk in shower and the fluffiest towels we have ever had. The room was very well heated and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was served from a civilised 8am. The plate of fresh fruit was really good. If you choose to have you eggs poached they will be the most perfect you will ever have with their lovely orange yokes. The rest of the components were equally good and served with leaf tea or great coffee. The bars each had a lovely roaring log fire, where we enjoyed a drink before our meal. The menu choices we made were ham hock, brioche piccalilli and burnt apple purée followed by venison, Jerusalem artichoke and rainbow kale. The other choice was marinated beetroot, basil pesto and goats cheese cream followed by salt baked celeriac, sage and onion with crispy kale. Both meals were outstanding. The venison was very tender and the celeriac was outstanding. On the basis of this dish, a very under stated vegetable. Service was very good and served at a speed we dictated without the continual pestering we have experienced elsewhere. We will definitely come back here as the whole stay was a great experience."
