"I thought hard about whether to write this, as really, we should have complained properly at the time. But, there was no manager and we with friends on their ‘last night’ before returning to Australia and life is too short. Where to start… The person on the hotel reception seemed bored/ bemused when we asked our way to the restaurant. So we found our own way to the room, which was empty but for one silent family sat in the corner. There was zero energy and no staff in the room at 19.00 on a Saturday night. We went looking for one of two very young, slightly panicked waitresses. When we found her, she told us to sit ‘anywhere’. Again a warning sign of what was to come. The menu was short and £45 for three courses. One of the 4 main course options was ‘burger and chips’, which just seemed weird given the way in which the venue is positioned on its web site and perhaps we should have just walked out when we saw the room and menu. Everything was signalling that this was going to be a very bad experience. We didn’t expect ‘haute cuisine’ but at that price point, we expected good food, well prepared and professionally served. We got none of this. The wine list was laughably expensive, but we chose a cheaper bottle (which they didn’t have). The substitute came and we had to stifle giggles as the poor waitress (surely untrained) managed to dribble it over us/the table on 4 out of 4 pours. The food was average to dreadful. I think the burger van in Corsham town centre would have done a better job with the burgers when they arrived, which looked grey and unappetising. The mashed potato that came with my belly pork was solid, tepid and can’t have been fresh. I could go on but, in short, none of the food was enjoyable. The young waitresses were kind and friendly but totally out of their depth, particularly as the room eventually filled up. There was a whiff of panic in the air and by this stage all we wanted to do was ‘get out’. I have ‘some’ sympathy,as it must have been so hard for a venue like this to ride out the pandemic. But that is behind us now and there is simply no excuse for the amateur circus that we experienced. Sadly, my advice would be to avoid at all costs. Whoever owns/runs Guyers House should be ashamed."

We took advantage of a deal on LivingSocial and paid an additional £30 to upgrade to a superior room. Unfortunately, I don't think they offer this option anymore.

I would rate the hotel grounds and restaurant with 5 stars. However, the rooms only deserve 1 star. The gardens were absolutely stunning and provided a lovely setting for a post-dinner stroll. View menu

I am writing a follow-up to our previous review about unauthorized charges on our bank account for services we did not receive at this hotel. We have requested an itemized bill but have not received a response from the manager, who no longer seems to care about this establishment. It would cost us more time and money to pursue this matter further, so we have decided to cut our losses and will not be returning to this hotel. I urge the owners to take notice of the negative reviews before this place deteriorates further. If you are looking for a pleasant hotel with good food, it is best to look elsewhere.

What a gem this place is. The setting is just beautiful and it has a very relaxed feel to the place. We had a super lunch here, limited lunchtime menu but we all found somehting we liked. The service was good, particularly from the more mature waitress. The younger waitress lacked a little finesse and we definitely got her impression she didn’t want to be there on such a hot day! We couldn’t fault the food at all, the only comment would be the Hazelnut Brownie pudding should have been served with Cherry Sorbet but instead it came with vanilla ice cream....not a major problem but an explanation would of been nice. All in all a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings so we will most definitely b...

Came here with a voucher for reduced price meal found what I will call a country hotel of faded gentility. Everything was fine the staff pleasant if not a little clueless as our server didn’t know what was in the dishes we were interested in having. Using a voucher you expect a limited menu (or additional charges for the more expensive dishes) and Guyer’s is no exception. However the choices were sufficient to be able to pick something we both fancied. We started with halloumi and then had salmon and chicken for the main course. Portion size was significant. However the potatoes I ordered as a side dish proved unnecessary as there was a very tasty layered ‘cake’ of potatoes included with the... View menu

I went to Guyers house with my fiancée for an afternoon lunch and also to see what the grounds were like, because we were looking for a wedding party venue. I mentioned this on our arrival. We were seated, I asked the waiter for some table water this request got ignored, we were not even given a drinks menu when we were seated.I had to remind the waiter about the water and also ask for a drinks menu. We ordered the lamb, eventually our drinks came. The lamb arrived cold, it was mostly fat and came with hardly any veg. Furthermore my lamb actually had a big piece of clean-film in it. I told the waiter about this, although he apologise and take the clean-film away he did not offer to replace th...

I don't normally write reviews but this place is perfect for constructive criticism that would turn a very nice Manor house into a fabulous experience. My wife and myself happen to go there via a dinning experience gift and this place was in a very nice location. Although we couldn't stay there due to no rooms available a very nice local bed and breakfast put us up. On arrival the Guyers Hotel is a large picturesque country building with ample parking and as its December a great Christmas vibe, the set festive menu was as expected with things like turkey and Christmas pudding to put you in the mood. Like I said this experience was a 3 course meal for 2 with champagne, now when you order cham...

"The Sign of the Angel is a wonderful restaurant Hotel in Lacock. Service The service was amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and made our meal so enjoyable as they were always there to serve us when needed. Food The menu was very well put together and something for everybody. We all ordered something different, I have to say all the food that arrived, was beautifully presented, and hard to pick, as we all had food, envy! Drinks There was a wide range of drinks on the menu for anybody wishing to have an alcoholic drink or something that is non alcoholic. We had a beautiful bottle of rosé wine that was from a local vineyard, it was lovely to see local businesses working together! Decor The decor of the restaurant and lounges is homely and inviting, suitable for a quick, get together, business meeting, birthday parties, or something a bit more formal. Prices Prices are very reasonable, especially when you take in consideration, the location and the service that we were lucky enough to receive. Lacock This small quaint village is the most beautiful destination to visit, it is somewhere that everybody should go to to see how beautiful are English country villages are, it is also very well located as it is so close to the city of Bath. I would highly recommend The Sign Of The Angel to anyone looking for a great meal with a venue and experience that you will not be disappointed with, I think next time we’ll end up staying in the hotel that is part of the restaurant and making an even longer trip out of it as we didn’t want to leave. Food drinks: The food was exquisite, with each dish presented like a work of art. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the textures were divine. The meal was truly a feast for the senses the wine from the local vineyard also helped add to the incredible flavours as well."
