"I politely approached the front-of-house staff to see if it would be possible to make an exception and allow us to order four desserts to avoid disappointment, but the answer was a firm no. During this conversation, I had to endure a condescending rant that included a reference to Jodie Kidd, which I found confusing, and a comment about how this was not a Weatherspoons, which also didn’t resonate with me. The chaos continued when we received more desserts that we hadn't ordered, which we gratefully accepted, even though they weren't meant for us. Apparently, the desserts are made to order with no extras, so I wondered where these extra four desserts had come from. I’ve seen some responses from the pub to negative reviews, and they often come off as empty rhetoric. What we really want to hear is that our feedback is acknowledged, understood, and that there will be an effort to improve. After all, we visit these places to enjoy special moments with friends and family. I can only hope this response doesn’t turn into more empty words and leads to constructive changes, particularly a retraining of the front-of-house staff. Eight more people from our group will be writing similar reviews. While the food was above average, my main complaint lies not with the food itself, but with the rude and condescending service, which unfortunately overshadowed the entire experience."

Not so much a review, but just a little heads up that it is £8 for a small glass of house wine, for those unfamiliar with the area and price bracket. However, it is the only pub in Kirdford which makes it exclusive in a sense. Service: 5 Location: 5

Having just recently moved to the village, we decided to give this place a try and have to say, it lives up to expectations! Service was initially very slow but food was to die for and we’re happy that ‘our local’ is a stone’s throw away! Delicious Service: 4

We had a lovely drive through the picturesque Sussex landscape on our way to Chichester. We stopped at this charming village pub, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch along with a couple of creamy pints of Guinness. The pub had a fantastic atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I think we've discovered a new favorite spot! View menu

During our last visit, there was a shortage of staff, but this time they really exceeded our expectations. The charming maître d’ was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. The staff was as impressive as the food itself. The presentation was excellent, too. While it's not the cheapest option in town, I didn't mind paying for such a great experience. I left feeling very satisfied. Well done!

The food was excellent, no complaints there. The service however was appalling. Turned up just before 2pm for our reservation, we are then made to wait 40 minutes for a table without any real interaction for a good 30mins, no apology and no offer of free drinks for the inconvenience. Then proceed to charge the full service fee without batting an eyelid. If that's what they think good service is they need a reality check. Spoilt some great food. Service: 1

What a little gem of a pub! We traveled from the coast to visit Pagham for lunch, and it was definitely worth the trip. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, especially our lovely waitress Charlotte—thank you so much, sweetie! I loved the stylish, comfortable decor; it really feels like a special place with a cozy, rustic vibe. The lamb brains were excellent, and the pistachio ice cream is to die for. I can't wait for our next visit—see you soon! View menu

Wow! We attended the tasting menu and music night, and it was absolutely stunning. The food was exceptional, and the music was fantastic. The volume was just right—loud enough to enjoy but not overwhelming, allowing for easy conversation. The service was outstanding. Louise, who hosted our table, paid great attention to detail, took the time to explain each dish, and was attentive to our needs, ensuring our glasses were filled and water was brought to the table. She was incredibly helpful throughout the evening. I highly recommend this experience!

We had a fantastic meal for a birthday celebration last night, thanks to everyone at The Half Moon. All four of us enjoyed three courses, and everything was outstanding. The menu is extensive, with plenty of intriguing options to choose from. I started with a delightful parfait, followed by smoked pork fillet served with pickled vegetables and black pudding crumble, and finished off with poached peaches and amaretti for dessert. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, and the pub itself looks great! The staff were truly exceptional. I can't wait to return!
