"Was visiting Exeter Westpoint for a few days and booked here for Dinner on the Thursday night. Staff were super friendly, organised and the food was well cooked, delicious and there were plenty of options available on the menu. The experience was so good that we booked for the Friday and Saturday nights too. Desserts were also delicious! Lots of locals drinking and eating always means its a good place to frequent. Free parking behind the pub available as well. Highly Recommended. Make sure you book though as its a very busy pub."

As always, fantastic meal, piping hot, huge portions, super tasty and great service. This place never fails. Fish cakes were so good I even ordered more to take home with me.

Food was very good and served hot. Service was also very good and the staff were friendly. My sister arrived first and my husband and I were running 30 mins late but when we arrived the staff were very pleasant and helpful making us feel welcome.

We attended a wake at the Half Moon. Just had to write a review on the food served. The veggie lasagne was gorgeous! also the Steak Ale casserole was very nice too. Being disabled, although the loos aren't accessible they made every effort to make sure I was comfortable. View menu

We decided to dine at the Half Moon Inn based on its excellent Trip Advisor rating. Booking a table was simple over the phone, and we received a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were satisfying without being overwhelming.

We all ordered the Sunday roast with beef. Unfortunately, the meat was very tough and difficult to cut, so we couldn't eat it. The gravy was watery and there was a very limited amount of vegetables. We only received a few carrots, 2 small pieces of broccoli, 4 small roast potatoes, and a ramekin of cauliflower cheese to share between 3 people.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant from beginning to end. The staff, atmosphere, and food were all excellent. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was cooked perfectly and served hot. We couldn't find any faults. We are staying in Dawlish and will be returning in April, and we will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. Featured and recommended in the Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guide. Locals' village pub. Light lunch of an excellent home made pea and ham soup. An average prawn cocktail. A benefit is smaller portions are available with the main courses. Doggy friendly. Log burner in the cosy public bar. Probably lost some of its pubby charm following refurbishment. Friendly crew.

Nice little country pub with great service and good food. We ate dinner here whilst staying at the Premier Inn at Jn 29 on M5. Alternative to the Brewers Fayre or Miller and Carter. I had the local brew Ferryman bitter from the Exeter Brewery and fishcakes and sweet potato fries served with a sweet chilli sauce and side salad. Fish cakes were perhaps a little over cooked as they were deep fried but otherwise very good. Finished with a lemon posset served with a red berry compote which complemented the sweetness well

"We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also...because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…"
