"We went for a Sunday roast and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Plenty if meat, 5 different veg, potatoes, stuffing, yorkshire (plus crackling and apple sauce with the pork) and a jug of extra gravy. There was more than enough vegetables for us all (We love veg but had to leave some). The gravy was simply delicious. The whole meal was piping hot and the 2 ladies that served us were so on the ball! What lovely ladies and we did not have long to wait for service, the meal, clearing the table or bringing the deserts. Cannot praise this restaurant enough. Yes you have to book as it is very popular, but we will definitely return. Thank you for such a wonderful meal."

Quiet, relaxed and very clean. Wonderful food that was clearly made fresh but still came out quickly. No issues with car parking. There is plenty of options for sitting inside and out. Would definately eat here again.

We had a perfect Sunday Roast today ! The food and service were absolutely brilliant ! Would Highly recommend ! All the food was home cooked. There was a lovely selection of vegetable’s. One of the best roast dinners I have eaten out in a long time ! Thank you !

Since lockdown I have struggled to find a restaurant that still values good customer service and quality food. My search has happily come to an end. The halfway house staff were efficient and attentive. The food arrived at a good pace and was very enjoyable. Thank you Halfway House. We will be back.

Didn't feel welcome despite booking. The owner was exceptionally rude and felt we were an inconvenience. We would have gone somewhere else if we hadn't walked across from Sampford Peverell and needed a rest before returning back. It is a shame for a local pub as the staff work really hard and always remain cheerful.

not for many years here, but wow, what a beautiful place. excellent home cooked eating. steak was what I wanted. other thoroughly enjoyed a cheesy bacon topped burger, sausage n’ mash, plus huh and mushroom stroganoff (special). desserts had to die. reasonable prices. great fire-roaring. friendly staff and fast service. What else could they ask for? in any case back

The food was good and the waitress was ok but the attitude of the man behind the bar was disgusting. He came around a couple times and snatched glasses off the table and after our meal we were told to come to the bar to sort out our bill as if he wanted us gone as soon as possible. No Thankyou or was everything ok, just a rude attitude. Will not be going back until he’s gone.
