"Naming it Happy Panda is a complete irony; it should be labeled as the Miserable Angry Panda. Our experience was terrible, leaving us feeling unwelcome and apprehensive about ordering at the restaurant. While the man who welcomed us was friendly, the woman taking our orders was incredibly rude and angry. Initially, due to the poor treatment, we contemplated leaving after placing our order, but hunger and curiosity made us stay. Regrettably, the disappointing food confirmed our mistake. The chicken was as dry as the desert, rubbery and lacking flavour, the beef excessively salty, and the noodles flavorless and gloopy. This was the worst Chinese food we 've ever had, even with our experience in Asia distinguishing authenticity. The overall atmosphere was horrendous and unpleasant as well. Save yourself the trouble and don 't bother visiting!"

Tried ordering a beef lasagne, but they didn't have it, when we tried ordering something else the phone rang, it didn't get answered, but instead of continuing with our order, the lady rang back and was overall quite rude to us. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Dropped into this place last night as a pit stop, whilst on my way further up into Wales ... And what a find ! Absolutely fantastic and authentic cooking ! Seemingly Sichuan influenced cuisine. Amazing price as well (incredible value). Lovely couple running the place. Food took a little time to prepare as it was all freshly cooked for me. Awesome, incredible, eating experience !!! Service: Dine in

This really is a hidden gem and I can’t believe it was only the first time I got here and really heard about it since I moved here 5 years ago! What a beautiful meal and so reasonable! All you can eat, freshly cooked and just amazing quality! This really is a hidden gem, Phillip the owner is such a sweet, lovely guy and his wife cooks all the food and it’s completely authentic which natural colours and flavours, not your typical Chinese! They have a great selection of local bottled craft beers and a wine and cocktail menu too. If you’re in Monmouth please try as it’s a cool hidden little place!

IGNORE THE 1 STAR REVIEWS! We stopped here after a huge hike through the Wye Valley and it was the all you can eat banquet was the perfect recovery. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, accomodating, and attentive, as soon as we picked up the menu they were there to take our order for multiple courses. We have travelled through most of Asia and the food was super authentic with a few twists and has as much personality as it does amazing flavor. Could not recommend this place more highly. The vegetarian dumplings are anong the best I have ever had. Definitely freshly prepared and made to order. Could have happily eaten round after round of them but also super glad we tried lots of oth...

"We were staying in the local area and the restaurant had been recommended by previous guests at our cottage. As we were celebrating a birthday we made a reservation for Saturday evening via the website. This was quickly confirmed by return email, but I had...to follow up with a phone call to provide my credit card to confirm the booking. The restaurant is a converted mill with some retained original features. We were pleased to see they were pretty busy. After a warm greeting by our friendly host we were shown to our table on the upper balcony area. This was more intimate than the main restaurant. We were given a small appetiser of a prawn salad in a lettuce leaf while we browsed the menu. There was plenty to choose from and some very interesting flavour combinations. My wife chose scallops and I had a braised brisket to start, followed by pork belly for my wife and lamb two ways for me. There is a very good wine list, but we went with one of the three house reds, which was very reasonably priced and delicious. While we waited for our food we were treated to an Amuse Bouche of tomato soup. This had a lovely fresh tomato taste. We also had some delicious bread with oil and balsamic dip. The courses were very good. The scallops with samphire were perfectly cooked and had a wonderful flavour. The brisket was very tender and had some lovely spice to it. The mains were equally delicious. The pork belly had been cooked perfectly, with a lovely crackling to it. The meat just melted and it came with a very nice celeriac and apple gratin. The lamb was a sous vide rump and a shoulder. It came with minted gnocchi. The flavours were delicious. Unfortunately we had eaten so well for the first two courses we didn’t have room to try the desserts, but the looked lovely. We finished with coffee and truffles, and a Cointreau for my wife, which provided a small comedy moment when the barman came over to check what we had ordered as the waitress had ordered a coffee and poncho!! The staff were so friendly and hard working. The atmosphere was good and the food delicious. We had a wonderful evening and would recommend the Stonemill wholeheartedly. It’s a shame it’s so far away from Norwich, but if you are local or staying in the area you should definitely go."
