"We would never have found this without TA albeit it is not really very far off the main road. It is well worth the journey - you would need your own transport. It is a very attractive Gasthaus on a single track country road surrounded by meadows and forest - incredibly picturesque and remote. We went for a light lunch first to find where it was and had a superb bowl of Goulash soup: piping hot, spicy and generous, more than enough for what we wanted. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed the scenery. The owner and his wife were attentive - if they spoke English, they did not in our presence seemingly managing to understand my pigeon German. On the strength of that we went back for dinner the following night when we ate inside. It was packed: we hadn't booked and, in effect, got the last table despite getting there at 6.30pm. Between us we had chicken home made chicken noodle soup and chicken and vegetable soup followed by rump steak and Wiener Schnitzel - both were superb. There was a huge salad table to chose from included in the main course which ended up being more than enough although the pudding we saw being taken to other tables looked wonderful. A good selection of beers and local wines were available at a reasonable price. The whole atmosphere was homely, comfortable, reminiscent of a farmhouse and the owner and his wife were completely involved in attending to us and serving. We thought it was a real find - not a 10 minute drive from Titisee where, frankly, most of the places were definitely to avoid. Well worth a visit. We would not hesitate to go back."

If you look for real An fair German food in a cosy hut, this is really the place to Be.The People are very friendly, the food is delicious, dogs are welcome, everything is tidy, ... You can only say positieve things about this restaurant. We Found the hut via the heiligbrunnen strasse, not via the address mentioned on tripadvisor.

Thanks to Tripadvisor we decided to go there. It's 4 or 5 km from the town center, but really worth the drive. Typical german food, but everything is homemade and really tasty. We had a small soup each and a main dish. Eventhough we eat quite a lot, we couldn't finish everything. Service was good and fast. What else could've we asked for!

We visited this beautiful restaurant whilst on holiday in Titisee in July. It's only about 6 minutes from Titisee but we did actually get lost trying to find it.:) But it was well worth the trip. Everything was perfect, from the beauty of the location, to the welcome and the wonderful food. These were definitely the best meals that we ate during our 2 week break. It's not tourist food, everything is home-made and delicious. Dogs are welcome and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.I highly recommend this restaurant for fantastic traditional German food in a stunning location. View menu

We located this via TA, and were not disappointed. As mentioned in other reviews, the location is magical and worth the visit if only for the journey there and back. Set about 5-6 minutes off the main Freiburg-Titisee highway, the greeting is wonderful (for dog-lovers like us) with a big cuddly St Bernhard coming out to the car to say hello! The restaurant has a farmhouse-like feel to it, and the menu is varied and interesting. There is a salad bar from which the guest can choose either a side salad or a main course, and the remaining dishes include beef, veal & lamb dishes as well as fish & shellfish. All in all, well worth the visit.

would never have discovered this place without a Trip Advisor recommendation...tucked away on a back road a guest house with restaurant.... beautiful setting in the woods.... actually driving time from Hinterzarten where we stayed not very long....but definitely off the beaten path...place was closed the first time we went - do check on opening days and times.... next time it was packed.... locals, tourists - excellent food, reasonable prices - perhaps the best Black Forest Cake we had during our stay there.service was fine... lovely St. Bernard to greet you but not beg for food... a gem of a restaurant and would gladly return if given the opportunity.

If you're on holiday around Titisee-Neustadt and looking for restaurants that serve rustic home-made food instead of the standard tourist fare, this is definitely worth the detour."Detour" because although it's only 5-6 km away from the lake in Titisee, it's rather hard to find. First of all, don't use the address provided by Trip Advisor, but the one indicated on the restaurant's site. However, in case your navsat sends you to an old derelict house and there's no restaurant in sight, keep driving ahead through the woods for another 1,5 km because, yes, the place is kind of remote. The food is worth the trip, though, being very good and great value. The interior is very cosy and dogs are welc... View menu

This restaurant is off the main roads, on a green hill, which makes its surrounding area very relaxing and beautiful in spring time.Heiligenbrunnen mean "Holy fountain" and there is one in the restaurants open yard. The restaurant itself is inside what used to be a church, with some of the relics still inside. We came here especially after we've seen the reviews here - and I can say the food is good, but not great, for example, I had a Goulash soup that was very very salty, the Schnitzel was OK. The desserts were much better. If you're afraid of dogs or cats take heed because the house roam free in the restaurant, but my children liked that a lot.Good visit if you have the time, but not a culi...

If it had not been for TripAdvisor, we would not have found this restaurant. It is literally in the middle of the Black Forest, at 1000 meters altitude and up a narrow road flanked by goats & cows. The food is delicious, and the service is attentive. Prices are very reasonable. We had the 3-course menu for our lunch, together with beer & wine and then espresso for 2. It all came to less than 45 euros. English is not spoken, but we were able to get along just fine. If you like large, friendly dogs, there are two in attendance, and one or the other may pay a visit to your table (not to beg, just to say hello). And if you are an admirer of mustaches, you can compliment Herr Ober on his. There a...
