"Mixed reviews in trip advisor so wasn’t quite sure what to expect....! Booked a table for 3 over the phone, very efficient, enthusiastic and helpful staff. Walking into the bar did feel a bit like a ‘drinkers pub’, however we were greeted cheerfully and shown through to the dining room, very busy and a bit noisy (lots of happy customer conversation). Menu was straight forward, we had beef roasts and a chicken in bacon. Food arrived well cooked, all lovely and hot, all at the same time and exactly what we ordered, with a large insulated jug of gravy! Simple stuff, but important and not everywhere gets these basics right. Had puddings which were equally good sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie very sweet and tasty. Food was overall very good, service was fine, at the end of the day it is a dining room at the back of a pub (no windows) so surroundings not special fancy, still a very pleasant, honest pub Sunday lunch. About £75 for 2 courses, 3 people, including a drink each."

Had a lunch with friends after rambling from Adderbury. Great customer service. Lovely food and great beer, although would be good to have more local ales.

We ordered the cheese burger and roasted duck breast, both were very delicious! The staf was very friendly and the pub was clean. We recommend going there for a nice meal.

I can't fault the Horse Groom. The food is always superb, they serve a cracking pint of ale and we always get an extremely warm welcome. It's the perfect example of what an English pub should be.

Staff were really friendly and attentive, the starters came out so quickly and were delicious! The mains were also really nice and there was a good variety. Can't fault it, Would definitely recommend!!

It's so unusual to find a friendly traditional pub with excellent food like the Horse and Groom. A great atmosphere and welcome, good beer, good service and delicious food what more could you want! Very highly recommended!

Meeting up with a friend as it is approximately half way between our homes. We hadn't booked and asked if it was possible to have a table for two. An older woman, who I assume to be the landlady, clearly in a foul mood, made...

Nice little pub with B&B and a nice though small outside space. Service is very good and food reliably good which explains why always busy. Best to reserve. Typical pub but food a notch up from standard with good ingredients. A La Carte and a...

We’ve visited this lovely village pub twice since September to enjoy the fantastic cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere. The quality of the food is better than many 5 star hotel and restaurants I’ve been to without the prices to match. Highly recommended, but make sure...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
