"Myself and my Elderly Father stayed here for one night on our way across country, well what a lovely find, in the heart of beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, when we arrived we were greeted by the Duty Manager sorry cannot remember her name she showed us to our room which was up some steep narrow stairs, when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised on how nice the room was, lovely and clean, spacious and a great ensuite bathroom although small had a nice hot shower .The room had all the mod cons, small tv, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and bottles of fresh water. The bar area was warm and cozy and had a lovely atmosphere, we eat dinner in the bar which was excellent especially the Curry, delicious , the pub also had a restaurant to the rear which was lovely, we eat breakfast in there the following morning and the breakfast was excellent, must also add the duty Manageress was lovely lady, very chatty and very friendly, made you feel very welcome, all in all a lovely stay and would highly recommend this place for food and accommodation, I will definitely stay here again if in the area !!"

Stayed here 2 nights as working locally . Had been staying else where but i wish we had found this place earlier. Room was clean well appointed, decent shower and very clean again. Room was cleaned up between nights which I didn't expect. Food is exceptional here from the evening meals to breakfast. Would recommend for accommodation and or food without hesitation.

A really pleasant experience at the pub. The room was spacious and wonderfully equipped. Nothing over the top. It and the village were cute and really relaxing. The breakfast was large and very filling, although I thought the dinner was overpriced. £12 for a small burger and about 6 chips. Staff were a little stressed and slightly robotic but other than that, the service was wonderful

Last week, we enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant while sitting outdoors. The food was exquisite and the service was both prompt and welcoming. I highly recommend trying their homemade nachos, which were by far the best I have ever had! They also offer a great selection of vegetarian options. The atmosphere at the restaurant is charming, making it a perfect spot for both dining or simply enjoying a drink. View menu

We’ve just returned from spending a night at the Horse and Groom. We had a lovely stay. We had dinner in the downstairs bar, which was delicious (their home chips were amazing) and there was a roaring wood fire burning which made it very cosy. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was brilliant. The staff were very accommodating, ensuring we had a taxi ready for us at 7 o clock, as we were going to a surprise 40th. All in all a very pleasant stay.

I tried the takeout menu during the COVID-19 lockdown. We ordered the Thai green chicken curry and buttermilk fried chicken, both of which were fantastic. I especially enjoyed the coleslaw and a full salad that accompanied the fried chicken, as opposed to just a small garnish. The chicken itself was very tender. The order arrived quickly and was still hot. We had enough leftovers for lunch the following day. I will definitely use this service again if the lockdown persists.

I always enjoy Sunday lunch at the Horse and Groom, especially the Roast Beef. However, today it tasted better than ever. Due to lockdown because of COVID-19, this innovative restaurant is now offering a nearly full menu for takeout and delivery. Our meal for two arrived right on time and was nicely packaged. After a quick reheat in the microwave, it was absolutely delicious. The portion of tender beef, traditional trimmings, and delicious red wine gravy were all top-notch. We finished off with the famous bread and butter pudding with custard. This meal was a wonderful treat during these challenging times. Well done David and Annette, and thank you! View menu

We went here based on some reviews and that is was fairly local to where we have just moved to and on the whole we had a very decent meal, just spoilt by a very yappy jack russel in the bar area. I totally get that the owner was probably a local and goes in several times a week and spends a lot of money..but that ain't our fault and it did spoil an enjoyable evening. Hand cut chips were awesome, the kids loved the burger and the steak was lovely according to our daughter..I had the veggie penang curry and this was a bit disappoining..smallish portions and not very hot at all...shame as the thought was there. puddings were awesome though, we each had a different one and they all went down a s...

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."
