"We were recommended this by one of our friends who has family in the area. The place we were staying, Cardiff Arms Hotel and Bistro don't serve breakfast! So we went to this place at about 9.15am as it opened up at 9am. Sign on the door saying cash only. Good job we had some! Very deceiving from the outside as it looked quite small, but when you walk in it went right the way back and there was an upstairs space for over 18's. Two ladies were working and the place was already busy. One lady brought the menus over and said to come to the counter to order. I asked was it too early for a salad. She smiled and said everything on the menu is served from 9am. Because I have horrendous dietary need. GF, DF and coeliac it is hard to eat out. But there was a quite a lot I could have. I opted for a chicken salad. My husband went for poached eggs on toast with a sausage. The menu wasn't too long, but had a good selection to choose from. I went to the counter. Ordered our food. The lady went though all the things I could have in the salad in bowls by the counter. I pointed out 2 things I couldn't have. We sat by the window, the place was light spacious and clean. Tables not sticky or dirty. The lady came over to me again and offered more things to have as I wasn't having all the things in the chiller cabinet. Nice of her to ask, but I declined. Food turned up. An amazing bowl quite large filled to the brim with salad and chicken strips on top. The chicken was very succulent thankfully. Not dry like in a lot of places. My husbands eggs must have been free range as they had extremely orange yolks. He said they were lovely. The sausage didn't look too great, a bit insipid and he said it didn't really taste of anything. The experience was pleasant and VERY good value. The food and cappuccino came to £12....or so. If we come back to this area, we will definitely go again. Maybe for lunch next time"

Just stopped here for a hot chocolate and a tea cake this morning. Both the drink and the tea cake were delicious. The cafe was clean and cosy; the prices reasonable and the toilet was on the ground floor and was well presented. All in all, this was a lovely place to have a break on our trip to Treorchy. I would certainly recommend.

My partner took me here for lunch as we hadn't eaten here before. It was such a lovely experience and the staff were so friendly and chatty. I had a club sandwich with crisps which was really tasty and a reasonable price. They also do a deluxe milkshake which satisfied my sweet tooth! We'd definitely come here again: thank you for making our lunch date really special : View menu

This is my first negative review in a while. An older lady was too busy talking to the man in front of me and a couple at a nearby table. The cake selection was not great, so I had to go upstairs since all the tables were booked. The older lady who served me scolded me for making her carry my now cold coffee upstairs. It was a truly terrible experience that I will never repeat.

I quickly visited Treorchy to exchange an item that I recently purchased. Whilst there I popped into Hot Gossip which is at the heart of the high street and ordered a tuna salad. The salad was freshly prepared, the staff were really friendly and the cafe was immaculate. The coffee was very nice and the meal was great value for money. It is my understanding that this is a licensed eatery offering a selection of alcoholic beverages.

Hot Gossip is a charming restaurant located in the bustling heart of Treorchy. They serve delicious light meals and desserts, all freshly prepared. Be sure to check out their Specials boards, especially on weekends. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy a coffee and watch the lively activity of this busy town. The restaurant is also licensed, so you can enjoy a glass of wine if you like. The family-run establishment, led by Sara and her staff, always extends a warm and friendly welcome to all. It can get quite busy, but we are regular customers and highly recommend it. - Jeff and Karen View menu

While we were driving through Treorchy looking for a place to stop for coffee, we came across Hot Gossip and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a great decision! Since it was lunchtime, we opted for a meal instead of just coffee. I ordered the tuna salad which was absolutely delicious and had everything I could ask for. My husband tried one of the specials, a leek, bacon, and cheese pie served with potato wedges, peas, and salad, which he also enjoyed. We decided to treat ourselves and indulged in desserts as well. My husband had a knickerbocker glory and I had blackberry and apple crumble with cream. Although the restaurant serves alcohol, we are non-drinkers so we stuck to tea a...

We live about a mile and a half from Hot Gossip, But on anything but a fleeting visit to Treorchy a visit is a must. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the menu quite extensive, the meals beautifully presented and attentively served served. In addition to the regular cafe furniture there is a low round table with bucket chairs downstairs, and settees upstairs for lounging. It is not possible to visit without meeting friends and chatting, and on our last visit we shared the round table with two complete strangers, and had a long interesting conversation. Such is the nature of the place, it seems to induce conviviality. There are groups of friends who meet weekly, share a bottle of wine...
