"I write this with heavy heart as the cafe has long been our ‘go to’ place for lunch or coffee and scones/cake. Lunch dropped off the agenda some time ago , as I have not been impressed with the rarely changing menu.I did try the Art Lovers salad a few weeks back when a friend was keen to have lunch there but it was really poor.Fairly tasteless dressing and two big, muckle lumps of chicken dumped on top . Not chargrilled in nice sliced pieces but cooked and served as if someone really couldn’t be bothered. There were also two big chunks of avocado..again, poorly presented. I had long thought the scones here were amongst the very best(being a scone aficionado But on the last two visits for tea and scones, my fruit scone has been as dry as toast. Not sure if they are not freshly made anymore, or frozen or just poorly made. I did complain about this a few days ago and got a replacement which was just as bad.Not the (always very nice and friendly serving staff’s fault but a poor baker in the kitchen perhaps. They usually serve the scones nice and warm but this was lukewarm , I assume because any more heating would have rendered it inedible. I really hope the cafe can return to its previous quality. It was incredibly quiet when we were in at the weekend so perhaps others are finding similar issues. It’s such a lovely venue too and we always buy the annual Friends card but I can see it getting far less use for the remainder of the year ,sadly."

Afternoon Catch Up with with girls. Lovely afternoon tea. Fresh cut sandwiches and pastries, followed by mini scones and then a lovely selection of cakes. Service was good and surrounds clean and fresh. As always a lovely visit.

Came here again (I am a creature of habit on my rare visits to the Southside) and the service, coffee and food were great. It was busyish and the coffee could have been a little quicker but I'm just nit picking...great parking and free. The staff are always really pleasant and helpful.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. 2 ciabatta with cheese and tomato, still looking for the cheese and the tomato was supposed to be marinated, which did not taste of anything. It was extremely dry. My daughter had the smoked salmon baguel which was dry and lacked filling also. Service was ok, though reasonably cheery staff.

I recently booked afternoon tea for 5 of my family to celebrate my mum's belated birthday and we all really enjoyed it. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely and a generous amount. I'm vegetarian and they catered perfectly for this. The decor inside was really nice and I couldn't fault our visit at all. The online booking process was very easy and I received confirmation.

This restaurant is always dependable! It's a delight to visit a place where if you request something unique, it's accommodated without any difficulty or unwillingness. My wife prefers a small cappuccino while I prefer a regular one - no issue! The Empire biscuit is outstanding and the warmed pear Danish was excellent. The service was fantastic and my wife enjoyed browsing the shop before leaving.

I had a wonderful lunch with friends at the cafe. The Ham Hough dish with potatoes and savoy cabbage was absolutely delicious, the perfect meal for the winter season. And of course, I couldn't leave without trying their Empire Biscuit, which is definitely the best in Glasgow! It was a great way to finish off the meal along with a pot of tea. The service was friendly as always, I can't wait to go back again soon.

I have visited this cafe several times and have always found it to be beautiful with lovely staff. However, during my most recent visit, I was not impressed. The soup I ordered was thin and watery, and my sister's roll was not well presented, as it was burnt with a hole in it. Although this cafe is not inexpensive, I have never been disappointed until now. I may have to considering going elsewhere in the future.

I have visited several times before and enjoyed the service and the food, however we were very disappointed with the service and the food. A charming lady showed us to a table. A rather glum waitress then took our drinks order. We waited over 30 minutes for two salads. The avocados tasted like they had been immersed in a vinegar type dressing. The poached egg had no yolk, a tiny amount of yellow liquid on the plate was all that remained of it. My husbands salad was not much better. A very cheery waitress passed by the table several times, but unfortunately we were served by the glum girl. We didn’t wait for coffee. Such a pity, it used to be so good.
