"We've stayed in Burghausen several times over the years, but nowhere else have I seen a bar as interesting, imaginative, artsy, eclectic and wonderfully quirky as Knoxoleum. It clear that it's owners are driven by a passion to be different, and a surprise awaits around...every corner while creative, modern art adorns every wall. A multistory affair situated in a century building adjacent to Europe's longest castle, here you'll find tables built into nooks, anterooms, and corners, down and up stairs, and no two chairs seem the same. Many of the chairs, tables, and booths are one of a kind pieces of art. Tables have large clocks built into table tops, mannequin parts line a shelf, booth backs have imaginative faces carved into the wall behind you as if joining your conversation. Colored glass filters light into many different shades and cobaltblue bottles serve as lampshades. Floors are open in interesting and unique ways so peoplewatching becomes a part of the experience. Each table is unique in it's own way one even features live, growing grass! This bar is truly the work of an artist who never seems to be satisfied. We only had drinks on the evenings we were there, but they do offer a menu of food choices as well. We met and had lively conversation with staff and locals each night we went embarassing us with their English skills which were far better than our poor German. In addition to the lively upstairs bar, a walk down the twisting staircase to the lower chamber once a storage room for the castle reveals a barrelceilinged live performance venue which reminded me of the infamous Cavern Club in Hamburg. We watched a local band there one evening and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Admission to the lower club requires a cover, but the music is played throughout the venue for all to enjoy. In short, this eclectic, oneofakind venue is one of the most unique bars I've ever visited. Make sure you stop sometime, you won't regret it"

The place is decorated in a crazy way, quite big, with a cellar and a first floor. We went to look around. The food is not great, we ordered different dishes and all the meatfish was breaded which I dont particularly enjoy Portions were...ok but not huge

I live in Burghausen but I always take our visitors here. It is like going into a funky art museum. The staff is friendly and last time the waitress insisted she speak English to us so she could practice. The food is good, the decor...outstanding, and the drinks are just like at home. If you have a standard favorite that isn't listed on their cocktail menu they will probably make it for you

I visited here recently with a team from work. We'd heard good things about the food but that was apparently before a change in owner. The menu has changed to contemporary but our meals were very average. The have a nice selection of beers and...drinks and have a very unique setting on levels taking advantage of a beautiful old building right on the river on the GermanAustrian boarder. The staff was good. They don't have English menus, so their focus is on locals. Nothing was bad, nothing was great

After checking some restaurants in Burghausen we decided to stick with the Knoxoleum for its decoration and reviews. The place is located in the oldtown and it is a typical barrestaurant I would try to go to meet friends and a nice chat. However, when...entering the place you sense you are in a different world! The way the owners have decorated it and the attention to detail makes it worth while just to stop by. Every corner has a different theme and even some may call it esoteric I call it art : make sure not to miss the basement... The food itself was delicious with a nice calamari burger to top it up! All in all a nice entertaining evening on a Saturday night without being in a crowded pl...

Went here with my old son and one of his work colleagues. They are both training in Burghausen with a large chemical company for their future roles at a new plant in the U.S. They've both been here for a couple of months and...had been to this restaurant a couple of times, but liked it well enough to want to take me there. I liked it. A bit Bohemian, but in a good way. Friendly service, interesting menu although I only ordered a salad as I was not that hungry. Direct on the Salzach river, so very lovely views. Probably not a place for formal family gatherings, and there were definitely more young people than folks my age, but allinall definitely a place I would go back to. Good value for mon...
