"I went to Worms for the day and was hungry for something other than pizza/kabob/asian, which seems to be what much of the offerings are in city center. Plus it was a rare sunny day in early Spring, so I thought it would be nice to enjoy some scenery outdoors. Using Trip Advisor (thank you!) I found good reviews for Kolb's Biergarten. True to the tradition of biergartens, you order your drinks and food separately (theoretically I guess you could bring a sandwich from Netto, though I wouldnt recommend it, even if those sandwiches were good). I ordered a salad plate and was satisfied- not the best I've had, but certainly plenty to eat for 10 Euro. Drinks are reasonably priced with a wide variety, and the staff is pleasant. They've got a great location below the Disney-esque Entrance to the City (built in the 20th century to look like Oldentimes), and they front the Rhine. It was tempting just to sit here for several hours and drink. I suppose there are worse ways to pass a sunny afternoon in Worms. In fact, maybe this is the best way to pass the time...."

The day I visited was somewhat dreary, but this would be an excellent spot on a nice day to have a beer along the Rhine. Recommended spot for the outdoor atmosphere.

Great place to enjoy famous crispy chicken seasoned with secret herbs mix, french fries (pom frits), salad and cold hefeweizen, while watching river Rhein, boats passing by, people strolling the river front.

This is where the locals go to enjoy themselves. Great atmosphere, eating outside. Great service. Regular musical evenings on the banks of the Rhine. Visitors are more than welcome. Enjoy lunchtimes or evenings. The place to. be..... View menu

The crispy chicken was superb and reasonably priced. Service was prompt and friendly too. When the weather is nice, sitting outdoors just metres away from the Rhein river is a real treat. Plentiful free parking nearby is the icing on the cake for this restaurant. Well worth a visit.

During the recent heatwave in Worms, Kolb's Biergarten (or 'Kolbe Gretchen' as it is known locally) was the perfect spot to be. Sitting under the trees along the Rhine with their perfect 'Knusperhaehnchen' was delightful. They serve 'Mittagstisch' too and it has been a very popular spot for many years, so reservations are recommended.

If you're from the US and appreciate food you do not eat fried chicken out. I was with a local and when she suggest the specialty of the house, fried chicken, I ordered it. At Kolb's Biergartan they give you a packet hand wipe since they expect you to eat part of the bird with your hands. Well it wasn't needed. The leat fatty, most moist chicken. And inexpensive to boot. View menu

Lovely spot under the trees on the banks of the Rhine - the temperature was over 30C so our team of Morris dancers, wives and friends were very grateful for the shade. Enjoyed delicious food and beer and even found the energy afterwards for a dance by the river. The staff did have a little difficulty keeping track of our orders, but probably only to be expected with such a large group.

We spent a very warm summer evening in this buzzling outside biergarten. The sheer number of people was what drew us there in the first place. Must be a giid sign, right? And we were right. The food is not very sophisticated, it´s more like a BBQ-place, with focus on grilled meat. On the other hand, they are good at what they do. We had schnitzel and a mixed grill and they were delicious. The only downside-and for some this might sound like an upside-was the size of the portions: I have never seen anything like it, not even in the US: They are HUGE and as far as we could tell every person left with a doggy bag big enough to feed a family. So, if you like BBQ and don´t mind portions the size...

"The restaurant or rather the pub Zur Vorstadt is located in Lampertheim-Hofheim near the railway station. It has an indoor area with non-smoking and smoking rooms and a beer garden in the outdoor area. The interior is equipped with wooden furniture and includes the non-smoking part in the front area. There is also a bar stool, as well as to find normal tables and chairs. On the right side you come to the smoking area defined by a wooden door. This is also equipped with tables and chairs and slot machines. A further wooden door is located opposite the entrance door and serves as a passage to the toilets. When you go through here, take a few steps, you come with the right hand as 1st to the ladies' toilets and then to the men's toilets. The toilets are very clean and tidy. In the beer garden there are large white tables with chairs. Some umbrellas and plants around the wall are used as sun protection. The wall is pulled around the beer garden and serves as visual protection, as the suburb is located on the main road. The beer garden can be entered via an opening from the walkway. There is no connecting door to the interior. The controls are nice and fast and easy to use. For food you can say that it is really tasteful 1a. I ate a cheese-catcher with frits and side salad. The scavenger was well roasted, the cooking cheese as it must be. The pommes were well seasoned and crispy and the salad dressed nicely and also really delicious. The hot cheese carving is great in price. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact price. But since we want to eat more often there, I will. For the additional salad we paid 2.50€ extra. All in all I find the restaurant or pub Zur Vorstadt really recommended and good. We come here more often."
