"We booked here on recommendation from our ski concierge as the chefs were having a night off at our chalet. Cute little restaurant, very friendly young server. We made advanced reservations but they didn’t have them on their list so we were sat at an awkward table at the top of the stairs. Orders taken immediately but the food took 45 mins to be served. We ordered the fondue which arrived broken (separated). When we asked the server why, he said it wasn’t cooked right but didn’t offer to correct it. Other tables had been served well before us so we just ate the fondue. Quite underwhelming. The restaurant also smelled like burning hair. Positives: Nice setting, centrally located in town, polite smiley server Negatives: The food."

The positive points: the decor is warm, all in wood, the dishes are copious, the service is fast and friendly. But the tables are crowded, the atmosphere is very noisy, and the food is very disappointing: the crozets are overcooked and boiled, the reblochon is as tasteless as the raclette, it's simply uninteresting. Edit 2024 everything downgraded unfortunately. Beef casserole inedible. Ambience nonexistent... 2022 Cosy looking place with traditional dishes. They have casserole dishes which are a nice addition but brought in pans instead of the traditional casserole ones. The beef casserole is nice. The fish casserole was above average. The sides were not as nice. They are open all day during the winter which is nice. Service is generally nice, it was totally empty when we visited at 5pm.

Overpriced overhyped mountain food in a cosy wood cabin setting. Beef casserole was good, vegetarian casserole is just a cheesy heavy risotto. Everything slightly underwhelming really. Staff were running around like headless chickens trying to run the joint, seems understaffed front of house. Some weirdo was hanging around by the entrance when we went in and was still there when we left. There are many other better restaurants for the same money in Val d 'Isere. Won 't be back.

I honestly can’t understand the negative reviews for this restaurant. Been coming here off and on for the last 7yrs and the food is on par price wise with anywhere else in Val (if you worry about the euros, then Val probably isn’t the best resort for you)! Sure it’s a busy and popular restaurant and staff are constantly working in a good way. The food is excellent and hearty, typical of the local region. Local wine is great at around €30 a bottle. Try getting that in any UK city nowadays. Book in advance, get a table before 1945hrs and have a great meal.
