"Absolutely fabulous we are still taking about the meal and the service a week later. We arrived to find that my husband's powerchair could not get across the narrow stone step. In two seconds, the lady in charge found us a table outside ..then she took a look at my husband who was a little cold and disappeared into a neighbouring shop to get him a wool blanket to keep him warm which she then presented to him as a gift. He was tucked up and comfortable for the rest of the meal and the meal was absolutely fabulous. The last time we ate this well was in Florence and we spent most of the meal arguing about which person's food was better. The lobster ravioli narrowly won out and the desserts were amazing. It's worth noting that they turned away at least 25 people whilst we were eating and they were completely booked so make a reservation. We live in Canada but we are making plans to return to Edinburgh to spend time eating here again!"

Good points food was cooked well and the service was attentive Bad points very cramped, expensive wine was priced for a fine dining restaurant rather than a bistro. Overall a typical tourist honeypot not one for the locals

la locanda proved to be a good bet on a busy Thursday night. the dining room was packed so we waited for an outside table. After just a few minutes we were picked up at our table, where we enjoyed an active person, watching the scene and. a good dinner. the weather and the food was given to a pleasant evening.

Overall very enjoyable experience. We were offered a waiting cocktail because the table was not ready at the time we booked (not so much of an issue actually). This is a small place inside, but very well structured with a top level organisation, including a...smile in every interaction. When the food came, it was simply excellent (papardelle). We will be back no doubt. The best Italian restaurant in the area. View menu

we went to eat here and were blown away from the food. the service and the location were great. restaurant is small so that booking is recommended. we have the arancini special and craab crostini special for starters that were both amazing. for the main thing we have. Hummer-Ravioli-Special and the lasagnas that were from this world. the menu is small, but the quality and the ingredients are excellent. will be very recommended and will be back

My husband and I were in Scotland for only two weeks. We traveled from Edinburgh to Isle of Lewis. We discovered this lovely café in passing the first night we arrived in Edinburgh, We didn't have a reservation but an exceptional Spaniard waiter named Luis...quickly sat us inside café. We both fell in love with their delicious authentic cuisine immediately, Needless to say we made reservations and went back to café just before our flight home to America. Marina the owner treats you like family. The entire staff is welcoming and extraordinary. Boy, would I love the recipe for those delicious meatballs. OMG ! The desserts were also scrumptious. It's like we were back in Italy. Grazie, Marina s...
