"Visited for first time for my father in law 's 90th birthday. Becky, Ruby and team were extremely helpful, the food was excellent and good value! and the 'birthday boy ' really enjoyed it. We 'd travelled 200+ miles to be there, and had to arrange a 'secret ' celebration, based only on location, and web reviews, so it was a great relief to find that everything was so perfect. We 've rarely encountered a venue where there is such a sense of a staff team all working together, and offering really tasty, reasonably priced food. Thoroughly recommended!"

What a super place. Friendly welcoming staff. Spotlessly clean restaurant. Super location and above all, the full English breakfast was cooked to perfection with quality produce and very nicely presented. Must give 10/10

Lakeside Bistro hosted afternoon tea for my mums 90th birthday. There were 40 plus adults and kids. The event was perfect. The setting, food and staff were marvellous and made it such a memorable afternoon for my mum. Thank you!

Super busy… as always but the staff are always friendly and try to accommodate you. The people that work here are so lovely! The food was delicious too. We will 100% be returning and would recommend! Though if you want to sit inside, make sure to book. View menu

What a brilliant café with home-home-made food, in a lovely setting and with friendly staff… what more could you ask for. I had the beef and mushroom suet pudding followed by lemon meringue pie and both were absolutely delicious and as I said, home-made. I only wish we lived nearer and could visit more often….. highly recommended!

I took my friend here for afternoon tea to celebrate her 30th birthday. The minute we walked in I knew it would be good as we were surrounded by home made cakes. I was not disappointed. Highly recommend here for afternoon tea. Amazing cakes, great sandwiches and all for a reasonable price. Even my friends dairy free afternoon tea was a delight!

Came here for a birthday lunch with my wife. Only to find a group of friends waiting to join us. It was very busy but still the staff could no do enough for us. Menu selection is good. I have not had a good suet pud for ages. If you want something lighter there are sandwiches too. Had a great time. Many thanks. Will be back in the summer.......... View menu

I hadn’t booked a table but called on the off chance, as it was about 1.45 and I was on my own I was fortunate enough to be given a table. As always the food did not disappoint- freshly prepared nicely presented. Service was impeccable as has been my experience in the past. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit when I’m in the area again.

Just come back from a fantastic afternoon tea. A friend gave us some vouchers so we decided to go for our wedding anniversary. I booked it late and we had a table with no view, unfortunately. Everything was lovely. The sandwiches, scones and quiche. The fruit was lovely and fresh, but the panna cotta was a bit firm. We had a refill of our lovely tea, but we had to ask for a box to take our scones and cakes home in. The staff here are always friendly and helpful.

"Nipped in for a quick bite on a Friday evening. We went up to what looked like the restaurant bar and asked if it was possible to get a table but were directed to the main bar to ask about this. The place was packed- getting served at the internal bar would have been a bit of a fight. Had a similar experience on a visit here before because there's not much space around the bar so you tend to get an impenetrable crowd instead of any sort of line. Eventually managed to get the attention of a member of staff and were told the restaurant was fully booked, however we could sit outside and order food at the bar to our outside table. Would have saved us some time if that was communicated through the team and relayed by the first person we asked instead of sending us to queue elsewhere. We did order to an outside table, and the food was excellent. The small pizzas really are quite small. But if you have a couple of sides they're perfect to not overstuff you. If you want to just eat pizza probably get a large. Also they had really interesting topping selections on the pizzas- I had the spiced aubergine, creme fraiche and honey. It was absolutely delicious. The chips were hot and well seasoned, the greek salad also really nice- I did miss the addition of peppers and would possibly remove the pea shoots and sub in the peppers to improve this and keep it more authentic though. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere inside was quite cosy and outside had a nice vibe with the tasteful lightning and wooden furniture. Would definitely return (but probably make a reservation. It's busy for a reason!"

"We stayed for one night prior to a flight at East Midlands Airport and everything was excellent, from the warm, welcoming staff, to the rooms and the simply delicious food (evening and breakfast). Firstly the pub: food, drinks, restaurant… All excellent. The sign of a great pub for ale drinkers is one with knowledgeable staff who are keen to let you sample before deciding on a pint. This was the case here and we worked through all five real ales during the afternoon and evening! Also a great selection of wines, and everything served in the correct glasses I loved the attention to detail. Then the evening meal in the restaurant area of the pub: this was also excellent, with a great menu and top food, in plentiful portions. Really delicious all ‘round. We didn’t manage desserts but starters and mains all great. The pub/restaurant is well presented inside and out, with a lovely beer garden at the back. Secondly, the hotel rooms: we were in rooms 1 2 and both were lovely. They were well presented, comfy beds, nice hospitality tray (with fresh milk in the in room fridge), nice toiletries. The room rate included breakfast, which was all freshly cooked to order and once again, a great selection. I would 100% stay here again, especially if going to/from East Midlands airport which was less than a 10 minute drive. A lovely, traditional country Inn with excellent food and hospitality. Thank you to the full team."
