"Super lunch on the terrace by the edge of the . nice and welcoming impeccable service.Menu to 15€ for both of us. tomato salad (red, yellow, black and mesclin) a delicious cat language ( beef) great espadon with small seasonal vegetables and potato dessert a lady vanilla ice cream with chocolate and a very good pavlova. all this prepared with fresh products. I recommend it to you, however, think to book because few covers and the castrais come to lunch. If I come back here, I'll be back"

The welcome is friendly and the elegant and tasty dishes, however, be not pressed, after an hour we had been served only the entrance, we spend more time waiting for lunch. View menu

Family meal, 8 people Setting, meals on a well-shaded terrace Excellent cuisine, refined not too sophisticated Fresh and local products Friendly staff Small downside, waiting time too long between our arrival at the scheduled reservation time and taking our order: 30 minutes

This restaurant serves really interesting and different food. For instance as stater, we had a cold soup made of crushed melon with blackberry ice cream. This was excellent. So if you go to castres, try to visit this little gem (it's near the canal) but I would suggest to book in advance as the restaurant was full very quickly . View menu

never disappointed in this establishment where we book every time at the end of the week for a dinner among colleagues to find us around a good dinner. a tasteful cuisine, with very good fresh products. a leader concerned with the well-being of his clients and his wife at the service. only hic think to reserve so not to stay on the tile!

I wanted to have lunch there many times but the restaurant was always full when I passed by (a very good sign) but this time, my partner and I were able to book and the wait was worth it: located on the terrace on the banks of the Agoût, we were able to enjoy the sun and the excellent cuisine on offer. Special mention to the Pavlova, probably the best I have tasted: very airy and not very sweet on the palate, it is ideal for finishing off a good meal!

"The Mediéval occupies an 11th-century building built on the left bank of the Agout River; you enter from the first street to the east — the door is a few steps below street level. We chose this restaurant because one of our party had been here ten years ago and had a very positive memory of it. We weren’t disappointed. Its name refers both to the date of its building and to its ambience: the room has a vaulted ceiling supported by arches, thick walls, an old wooden cabinet, and some medievalish decorations. The main room holds about fourteen tables; a further couple of tables are in an adjoining alcove, and a porch overlooking the river allows a couple of small tables, used seasonally. The tables are placed fairly close to one another but the feeling isn't quite cramped, especially as only four other tables were being used. The white tablecloths and sturdy chairs enhance to the comfortable feeling. We were greeted warmly for lunch, and the daily specials were explained to us. The 17€ menu of the day seemed good value. There were no choices. It began with a light and tasty fish mousse on salad greens with vegetables; this was the most creatively conceived and interesting part of the meal. It was followed by a "plat" of turkey with a particularly notable mushroom gravy and mixed mashed potatoes. The dessert was pears in a rich caramel cream. As others have noted, the portions are generous. Nothing could have done better, though I’d reinforce what another reviewer says, that with the gravy, mash, and caramel cream dessert, this was by no means a low-fat meal. Good crusty rolls were given us and replenished. We included a bottle of recent Gaillac wine, modestly priced. Service was quite friendly, but, as other reviewers have noted, sometimes a bit slow, since the staff is small. (Accordingly, I've rated the service "average", but it was much better than average in warmth.) We were in no hurry, though, and didn’t mind. Given its pleasant setting and and comfortable room, the friendliness of the staff, the good value, and the very interestingly conceived and well prepared (though rich) food, I’d recommend the Mediéval to others."
