"You're in Grasmere, it's packed with holiday makers. You can't get parked, you can't get a table what do you do? You head out of town and find The Lancrigg Hotel/Bar/restaurant. It isn't easy to find but worth the effort. We have been several times since the new owners took over. The setting is beautiful, sitting outside, having a nice pint of local ale, having some very nice food. Lots of walks around there too. Staff are very friendly. I would recommend The Lancrigg if you are in Grasmere and would like a peaceful setting for a spot of lunch. I have one tiny complaint that we experienced on our latest visit remember I talked about the peaceful setting? Well today we had some geek with a drone buzzing around us during lunch. It was far from peaceful. Then I realised he was a member of staff! Have a word please, it spoilt our lunch today. Otherwise, perfect as usual."

We had a really lovely time. The weather was typically Lake District' but that didn't matter. Lancrigg was so peaceful and the staff were great. We were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely return.

A lovely hotel away from busy Grasmere. Very friendly staff, just had drinks as they weren't serving food because it wasn't worth opening kitchen for the lack of customers. It's a shame that hotels are suffering like this after covid and the economic climate.

Paul, Fab and the team were so welcoming during our 2 night stay, nothing was too muhc trouble. The food was great and we really enjoyed sitting in the bar of an evening relaxing with the stunning views. The location is great with only a short walk into Grasmere. We'll be back. View menu

Living in Grasmere we had heard good things about the food at Lancrigg in recent times they were certainly right. The food looked as good as pictures we had seen and tasted even better. A proper good Beef and Yorkshire Pudding 10/10 service with a smile. The Sticky Toffee Pudding also hit our expectations. We will be going back.

We were staying at the hotel and booked in to the restaurant for our first night which was a Sunday. All 3 of us had the Sunday roast and we all really enjoyed it. The dining room has a lovely setting with views across the gardens. Staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem. We had an early evening meal on our last night, again served in the dining room. Fish and chips, steak sandwich and chips and a chicken club sandwich and chips were all really good quality and we all left empty plates. Prices are about what you would expect to pay in Grasmere. The choice of beers and wines were very good and we kept our table after our meal and had more drinks to end the night. Will definitely e...

"We were sure to book ahead for a table of 4 for 5.15 as it was a late Sunday roast we were fully aware that not everything would be available so it was no surprise when we were told that there was only gammon left for the roast option however there was still fish and chips homemade steak pie or vegetable lasagne. We happily opted for 3 gammon roast dinners and a homemade steak pie with mash (you get the choice of which potato you'd like) The food arrived piping hot with plenty of everything and it was so so tasty you could really tell everything was lovingly made from scratch for the roast the potatoes came both roasted and mashed with cauliflower, broccoli and carrot and swede mash. A generous helping of gammon and a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy that was clearly made with the juices as it was so flavourful. The steak pie was brilliant too homemade with large chunks of steak and a choice of potato and whether you'd like the same veg as that with the roast or with peas. This also came with gravy. For dessert there was a choice of either chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple pie or sticky toffee pudding and you had the choice of either cream, ice cream or custard. 2 of us got it with custard and 2 of us got it with ice cream and it wasn't overbearingly sweet it was perfect with a delicious caramel top! We all thoroughly enjoyed all the food and the drinks and service and will be back again one day if we find ourselves holidaying here again"
