"I am here in Avene for 3 weeks treatment at the Thermal Station and staying in an apartment in Avene. Having sampled all 3 restaurant in the immediate walking distance of the area, I have to rate L'Avenette Gourmande my favourite and I find myself returning to this and trying every dish available. It is a family run business with simple yet elegant food offerings. It may not look as swish as the restaurant at the Hotel d'Orb, the food is on par or if not better with a much more relaxed atmosphere. The proprietor Eugene and his family has been very accommodating to my lack of French and my usually very non-French meal times. I have become so comfortable with their food I have resorted to letting them decide what I should have every time. The restaurant also offers free wifi internet which is a bonus for any traveler. It also has a semi-enclosed terrace over (yes, over) the River Orb which serves as a beautiful visual and aural backdrop to meals and conversations. Being in a prominent location in the main street of the little village of Avene, the street front al-fresco seating makes L'Avenette Gourmande the impromptu gathering spot of the town."

What a great encounter with these new owners of the super professional gourmet not only is the very good cuisine, besides being copier. They have a lot of love for their profession. the cherry on the cake, the chef takes the time to come and turn to these customers know everything he's been through. hat worthy of a great leader. We were there for treatment at the hydrotherapy center. We stayed at an apartment in the village for 3 weeks, and ate here frequently. The food was consistently very good. The caramel creme brulee is just delicious! On a pretty summer day you can dine on the balcony overlooking the river such a serene and beautiful setting. Kathy cooks some delicious food. She and her husband, Eugene made us feel very welcome despite the fact we don't speak French. I loved their Friday night parties where everyone at the same thing and the atmosphere was so festive and friendly. They also have free wifi, which I really appreciated. We are going back again this summer and I look forward to visiting again.
