"Eating at this restaurant felt like dining in a retirement home. The food from the carvery was terrible, but the fish ordered separately from the kitchen was very good. The atmosphere was unpleasant with tables spread far apart, hard floors, lack of ambiance, and terrible service. We requested a jug of water for the table, only to have it taken away after we had drunk half of it. The buffet food resembled that of a primary school canteen with mushy roast potatoes and fake Yorkshire puddings. My son's meat was tough and when I complained about it being overcooked, I was met with a glare. The overall experience was unfriendly and unpleasant. We left after only 48 minutes, with 10 of those minutes spent waiting for my salmon. It seemed that the restaurant catered mainly to older patrons, as the food was all soft and mushy. The carrots were oily and drenched in honey, which was off-putting. This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've had in years, especially considering the £55 bill that included a service charge for reasons unknown."

We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Holt for their Carvery and will certainly be visiting again.

Just a quick lunch, staff were helpful to accommodate a dish not on the menu. Friendly and quick service.

Good choice of food in the carvery, good service and nice round table for a party of 10. Nice touch with a birthday platter and chocolates View menu

I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

Really friendly and helpful staff, provided information for food intolerances, we had the club sandwich and the minute steak, both very tasty and good sized portions. Cozy and quiet (at least on a Thursday lunchtime). Good disabled facilities.

We decided not to have lunch at this restaurant as we were hoping for a carvery, which was my mistake. The Sunday menu offered limited options such as fish and chips or omelette, which we were not interested in. Since we had already tried their roast before, we decided to go elsewhere for dinner. Apologies for the inconvenience. View menu

Very disappointing carvery . The beef was overcooked and so tough I couldn’t cut it. When I complained it was replaced with pork which was ok but I had gone specifically for the beef. The roast potatoes were very greasy and not very crispy and the cauliflower was pvercooked. The pate was very mediocre. Would have expected much better at £35 for 3 courses.

Absolutely fantastic! Originally booked for the Sunday carvery but they phoned to advise it wouldn’t be on and we went anyway. The food as always was excellent, 3 lots of sausage and mash were devoured along with a delicious fish and chips and another burger and chips. All food arrived hot and plentiful. (my Mum’s sausages were even well done for her! Dessert was a cheese and biscuits and a chocolate brownie, again both delicious. We were celebrating my daughter’s 18th birthday and the staff very kindly provided a slice of cheesecake along with a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine which was an extremely kind gesture. For great service and great food, I highly recommend a visit here.
