"at the time of writing the restaurant accepts only cash, although I negotiated someone to pay by bank transfer. only accepted cash? as strange! also at the time of writing there is a lamb surcharge. this is not displayed on menus, but on the order. menus that do not reflect the actual price? as strange as cash! the food was nice, and the portions generous, also for me, as I seem to eat like a jcb. beautiful pickle tablet with the poppadoms, and the poppadoms themselves were not greasy. also the wobble bhajis, who had in contrast to the other ordered dressing a beautiful kick of the heat. the chana palak (a recommendation of the chef, I chose huh, so no call for the iwf) was served together with the rice, decorated with a tomato and was very delicious. the court was described as medium-warm, but it was on the mild side of the medium if they lust give it a jump. denise decided to have a huh balti, again, on the very mild side of the medium but delicious, nevertheless. we shared a side of aloo gobi, which was not disappointed either. Summing up: general portions of quite expensive appetites, whose warmth (chilli heat) is selected. the loss of stars is due to the unfathomable business model, cash only in the new contactless world, and the menus that are not adapted to reflect the price of the lamb at least makes me no sense. I would visit again; I really enjoyed eating and service."

Our take away (which we picked up ourselves) was delicious and excellent value portions were very generous and the spice level was quite restrained. The lamb done in honey and cinnamon was especially tasty. Recommended.

We had an absolutely marvellous takeaway from here tonight. The menu is wide and varied with an adventurous mix of flavours and the portions are large. This is probably the best takeaway meal we have ever had. Strongly recommended View menu

I was here a few times and always a good curry. all commented in our party on the quality of food. it misses only the five star as its money and although the staff was really helpful, they were overthrown as we follow slower than average service.

The food was SWEET instead of SPICY..it's not an authentic indian restaurant..the food was more Bangladeshi instead of indian..the only indian thing about this restaurant is it's name!The naan and chapati are ready made from supermarkets!Never gonna order from here again.Wish I could give anything less than View menu

My wife and I stayed in Helmsley for six nights in July and decided to eat at the Helmsley Spice one evening. We had only booked online a couple of hours before we wanted to go but this worked perfectly and we were welcomed by the very friendly and helpful owner. Even though it was busy, the service was good and we really enjoyed the food. We would definitely eat here again.
