Great Italian restaurant, fantastic pizzas, pasta and salad dishes and decent sized portions tooService is good but slowed down after our main dishes.

The food was excellent as always, but faster service would have enhanced the overall experience given the bustling ambiance. Nevertheless, the restaurant provides excellent value for its price.

This place is actually not bad for takeaway pizza but it’s not at all friendly and the rest of the menu is pretty average. Gino’s is much better and friendlier and I think if you want to splash out a bit then La Cucina and Branca are a better bet. But if you are in Summertown and want takeaway pizza this is ok.

A great evening celebrating our daughters 17th birthday! Fantastic all round from the initial booking, to the service and atmosphere. The food was delicious. Our party had the carbonara which was great and gorgeous pizzas. The staff were great and having outlined on the booking it was a birthday celebration they bought out some ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday! Nice touch thank you! Will be back! After reading some of the other reviews, I feel like we must have visited a different restaurant. The service and food were excellent at Mamma Mia. This well-known establishment in Oxford has two very popular restaurants that consistently offer fresh and delicious food served with great care. Eating at their restaurants is always a pleasure. The Summertown location recently moved to a larger space but still maintains efficient service and superb food quality. I visited this restaurant on November 30th to celebrate an 18th birthday. I was disappointed by the extremely rude waitress we had, who had a terrible attitude and even rolled her eyes when we asked a simple question. The chef also displayed unprofessional behavior, making a disrespectful hand gesture when we requested something to be checked. This was surprising as we have always had great experiences here with high quality food. Despite this negative encounter with the staff, I would still recommend the restaurant for its food. I was staying in a nearby B&B so Mamma Mia looked a good option for a Monday night when other local restaurants were closed. I was seated at once without booking, but on weekends I suggest reserving to ensure getting a table at this popular restaurant. The staff were all cheerful and chatty, so full marks there. Food was also good, I went with a calamari starter and the 'house ' Mamma Mia pizza and enjoyed both. I was checking my watch a few times waiting for the pizza; that was on a Monday so could be worse on Fri/Sat.
