"Mary's Garden is a cozy restaurant located near Nelson Hospital, towards Wimbledon Chase. Booking a table is easy and highly recommended. Upon arrival, Mary greeted us warmly and we chose our table. The menu is extensive and with Mary's guidance, we shared 3 starters along with Japanese beer and green tea. The starters were freshly prepared, piping hot, and delicious, perfect for sharing. We also enjoyed a side of Kimchi, which had a good kick to it. The main courses were served as they were cooked, so be prepared to eat at different times. Each dish was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty, making it one of the best Japanese meals we've had in a while. We are already planning to return to try more dishes, as are our friends. Overall, Mary's Garden offers delicious food in a relaxed and informal setting, highly recommended."

A really small, family run restaurant a bit off the beaten track in Merton Park. The aubergine in miso is spectacular but everything is clearly freshly made. Can't fault this in any way.y

My mother and I decided to have dinner at this restaurant after it was recommended to us by several locals. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, Mary is an excellent host and the restaurant has a charming and tasteful atmosphere. The decor is beautifully done.

Don't be put off by the modest exterior and quirky interior this is a great restaurant. There sushi/sashimi options are limited but what they do serve is super fresh. The menu is packed with really delicious Japanese dishes and the odd Korean influenced one. Try the Bulgarian white a bargain! To be thoroughly recommended. View menu

We have been to Mary's Garden several times lately. The food is a fusion of Japanese and Korean food. I would say that this is our most favourite place to eat at the moment. The food is made with fresh produce and is cooked quite beautifully. We love the pumpkin croquettes, the bibimap, yaki udon noodles, kimchi pancakes. The ambience is cosy.

Mary is an excellent host, and the dining experience was very comfortable. We felt welcomed and at ease, as many of the other patrons were regulars and on a first-name basis with the staff. The food was outstanding, and I thoroughly enjoyed Mary's suggestions for our meal. I will definitely be returning soon - this is now my favorite restaurant.

This is such a lovely restaurant. The food is amazing and so freshly made. The owner, Mary, is charming and clearly cares about making sure her customers enjoy their meal. We had delicious gyoza and deep fried squid to start, then beef rice hotpot and chicken teriyaki noodles for main, washed down with a reasonably priced pinot grigio! It is on our doorstep and it's a lovely addition to the local area which has seen a big improvement since the new hospital opened. View menu

This is the best sushi and Japanese food we've found in London and the surrounding area. Having been to Japan we missed the real authentic sushi we were lucky enough to try out there, and couldn't believe our luck when we found a great substitute near Wimbledon! The food is excellent and this place is decorated very nicely. It's a small, intimate restaurant with a nice atmosphere, although it can get a little cold and draughty depending on where you're sitting. The service is very efficient although not particularly smiley! and overall it's a great place that deserves custom. We'll be recommending it and taking our friends in the coming weeks.

Rather off the beaten track, but convenient for the new Nelson Practice is this independent gem. I know that it serves meals, and on one occasion I had a very welcome game soup here. But I know it best as a coffee bar. There are always fresh homemade pastries and cakes and the coffee is somehow just the right strength. It is very refreshing to sit in an independent coffee bar free from the rather overbearing atmospheres in the coffee bars in the Broadway. Service is personal, quick and friendly. Obviously plays its part in the neighbourhood rather too far for me to walk, unfortunately. Lovely quirks such as the donations board on the wall from about a century ago, showing how a local champio...

"I was super excited to come to this restaurant as someone friends recommended it to us before and today we went to a friends birthday. I was extremely disappointed because my expectations were really high specially when the restaurant has 4.9 stars. The staff definitely needs some training as the service we received was shocking. First we were waiting for glasses to drink our sangria for a good ten minutes, then we ordered started and main and we were missing one of the starters we then said that it was fine because the lady that brought the starters to us insinuated it was our fault and stated she only had one in the ticket even thought the other guy who took the order double checked it. Then it was time for the mains everything came out apart for our food which he said was coming in a few minutes, we received our food after 45 minutes not only that but no one came to apologise to us and they didn’t even realised we were missing food. Which makes me think they were only focusing on cleaning and closing instead of taken care of the only customers in the restaurant. When my other friends were eating some people came and at that point we were told not to laugh for no reason. They got their food first so we were definitely forgotten and highlighted it to the guy. He was joking around and we didn’t even get a proper apology. The lady there was really rude and was very clear to all of us that she didn’t want to be there and that was really off putting. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all unless you want to be treated horribly."
