".....this takeaway is pretty damned good. After several failed attempts at getting a decent Indian takeaway around Rainham, I was recommended this one.... Medway, in general, is so bad at providing eating in or out food... or should I say VERY good at producing average at best. So much so that I guess that people in this area will accept any old rubbish and think it's good. (Let's face it, Spice Fusion gets great reports, but it's absolute ****) Massala was a welcome change from Medway mediocrity. It's good... in fact very very good. The menu is a bit lengthy and confusing....but the food, when it arrives, is ace . Careful you don't over-order.... The portions are quite large and very good value for money. HIGHLY recommended."

We have used this take away for years. It is well established and well known as the best in the area. Large menu, reasonably priced and unbeatable for taste. I highly recommend the Manchurian chicken. View menu

Ordered tonight, one of our dishes didn’t arrive with order..after a phone call it seems I forgot to order it!. Masala said they would put it on express delivery and was delivered within 10 minutes. Brilliant in my opinion and food was lovely.

We were very disappointed. It took over 2 hours to come when they said about 1 hour. When it did arrive it was almost cold. We had ordered some not very spicy food for our children and it nearly blow our heads off. Do not bother wasting your time or money.

We have ordered Indian food from here for delivery several times now it's been absolutely delicious every time. The food is absolutely restaurant standard, the flavours are amazing-easily the best Indian food that i've eaten for a long time. It always arrives quite quickly within the time frame given. Can't recommend highly enough, definitely my go to indian takeaway now with the added bonus that they deliver to Iwade-try it, you won't be disappointed. View menu

An update on a previous 5* review, the last 3 times we've had a problem of some kind and this time was the worst, called 2 hours in advance to book delivery time, 25 minutes after delivery time I called and it was only just being sent, ordered a large curry sauce and it was a small vegetable curry, my wife doesn't like vegetables so I had to go to the shop and collect a curry sauce or wait 30+ minutes for a new one. The food really is so good it's just a shame there's been so many problems recently.

Used this Indian for a few years now and they never fail to be amazing. The food is always delicious and great price too. The staff are very understanding of dietary needs, helpful and friendly. After placing an order and going to collect he recognised me and knew I was vegan, I didn't realise the dish I asked for usually uses butter and they adapted it for me the first time after I mentioned being vegan, they very kindly remade the dish for me, and now I mention being vegan when ordering so they know not to use dairy. 5* all round

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
