"Have been for dinner here before and have always been really impressed, but to say we were disappointed tonight was an understatement. First course paid £7 for a tempura starter. I had one proper piece of chicken, with three tiny pieces, which actually had more batter than chicken. I didn’t say anything at this point as I had ordered a pub classic style main which should) almost certainly fill me up. My main came and although it wasn’t expensive £12) it barely had 4 decent spoonfuls of macaroni in a tiny dish. I genuinely thought they had given me a child’s portion by mistake as my husbands meal lasagna) which was almost identical in price came in a pot that was at least 4 times the size. My 3 year old wouldn’t have had any issue finishing what I was given and would still have room for dessert! Unfortunately when I queried this with staff I was told it was correct, and that a staff member had it for their lunch today and it filled them up so it must be enough! The staff member referenced was very slim and unfortunately I’m not) so it felt like she was inadvertently making fun of my weight by dismissing my concerns and comparing me to others. Just to clarify I have never complained about the size of portions at any restaurant previously. The manager appeared very inexperienced and instead of rectifying a problem in what should have been a very simple way, instead made me feel personally attacked for not being satisfied by the tiny amount of food I was provided with. I have never in my life been to any restaurant, ordered two courses and left hungry but this was unfortunately my experience tonight, and the staff’s rudeness and uninterested attitude made the situation 100 times worse. Our bill came to just under £50 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks I was driving so only a soft drink) and instead of enjoying a nice meal with my husband, I left feeling hungry and humiliated. Certainly won’t be back and will be telling others to go elsewhere too."

I believe it's time for you to update your menu. My meal did not meet the usual quality I expect from your restaurant. The menu has remained unchanged since your opening, so I suggest adding more variety and refreshing the options available.

Prices are shocking now for the quality of food. Food was nice with the exception of fish inedible due to so many bones it it) however even the price of one cup of tea which you get a small cup water and one tea bag. Why no pot? Service was great. Max was really friendly. However I’ll be in no rush to return. Not what it used to be unfortunately.

Recently it went to the mcchristies restaurant in crosshouse to celebrate a birthday, and what a tasty we had from the beginning. we were warmly welcomed and shown on our table. there was a great selection of food on the menu and what we were served more than our taste buds beaten! I would say I would consider this place one of the top dining places in ayrshire. yes will be back!

We made a reservation for 9 elderly family members at this restaurant. Overall, most of us enjoyed a pleasant lunch, but one person ordered the steak and found it to be too tough to eat. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they simply apologized and said, "oh, that's a shame." Unfortunately, others at the table also found the steak to be too tough to eat. The rest of the table staff were very friendly and pleasant. We may consider dining elsewhere next time. On a positive note, the fudge sundae was absolutely delicious.

Visited McChristies with a group of 12 friends and without exception we were all freezing. We complained to Staff who said this had been reported to the owner who said that the heating couldn’t cope with the low temperature. I have never heard such nonsense in all of my life. Depending on the thermostat setting the boiler will fire to maintain that temperature irrespective of ambient temperature. The food was gorgeous and the service excellent but myself and the rest of my party won’t be returning as it was really uncomfortable due to the lack of heating.

we were to this place at numerous locations and always enjoyed it. this time eating was as good as usual, but the service was an absolute sweat. we ordered drinks and the bar went over to make them, we could see our drinks together with numerous others sitting on the bar waiting to be taken in tables, but none of the employees seemed to take them, they were much more interested in chatting and looking for phones. our drinks were sitting there for 10 minutes before the girl from behind the bar brought her over. the same thing happened with our food order, the cook pressed the bell 4 times to tell them that the food was ready before another uninterested coworker overflowed with eating. I asked...

"My husband and I bought an itison voucher for brunch for £29 for The Sorn Inn. When we arrived at 12 we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered the eggs benedict with the sauce on the side and my husband ordered the full scottish breakfast. We had to wait a while, I'm unsure how long exactly but we weren't too bothered as we thought our food was all being made fresh. When it arrived, my husband's food look really nice. No complaints there. My eggs benedict consisted of 2 cold toasted slices of bloomer bread. One with 1 slice of fried bacon on it and the other with 1 poached egg. The hollandaise sauce was in fact mayonnaise. I called the waitress over and told her this wasn't what I ordered. I ordered eggs benedict which was stated on the menu as a toasted muffin, ham and poached eggs with a hollandaise sauce. She was lovely. She apologised and said she would take it back to the kitchen. After she done this she returned and said that there was no muffins left and would I like to order something else. By this point my husband was halfway through his breakfast. Why was eggs benedict even on the menu if there were no muffins?? I told the waitress I would have the full scottish breakfast then. By this time there was 2 other tables filled and the eggs benedictwas still being sold. Our waitress brought me over another coffee while I waited on my breakfast. It wasn't quick. It was alright when it arrived. But not great. The toast was still cold and there wasn't any butter. Zoe our waitress was wonderful. Whatever the owners are paying her, just isn't enough. She was apologetic, attentive and calm under pressure. Why didn't the chef tell Zoe to take the eggs benedict off the menu as it was still being sold when we were leaving. What kind of chef thinks cold toast, bacon and mayo is eggs benedict? We have been to the Sorn Inn on numerous times before and the food has been outstanding. Such a shame as we do like to eat out and support local and smaller restaurants but we won't be hurrying back."
