great staff, good food, but also a little expensive. if they want to drink as this place in their pockets make hole. but this place is good.

Had an excellent meal at merchant tavern. The lamb belly was divine as were the appetizers and bar bites. Will def go back and recommend to others. Service was excellent and good ambiance.

I was told the Deep Fried Oyster is a must. We ordered one each. I am not a big seafood/oyster fan, but this was delicious. I expected the batter to be oily and thick. However the batter was light, and crispy. They tasted so damn yummy! I might start falling in love with oysters now (I know, i am strange for not being in love with them already)

great ambiente, great staff, good eating, but very expensive. no doubt we have ordered for a few drinks, but still this place can make the hole in the bag. we ordered the fish of the day, focaccia brot basket, the profiterole, the opera mandelkuchen and the chocolate mousse cake. nothing in this restaurant will disappoint them. would definitely go back if it weren't so steep.

This was not my first visit to Merchants Tavern, I had previously tried to have dinner here back in January for the husbands birthday. Unfortunately, a power cable in the street outside the restaurant decided to explode on the night of our visit and scuppered our plans! The electricity had to be cut and so no dinner for us. The staff were wonderful at trying to find us another table at on a Saturday and it meant we got to eat at the glorious City Social.

After forgetting Rule No. of Eating Out Always make sure the restaurant you like is open, before trying to eat there (in this case a US joint called TuJacks, which I will certainly try again later) I found myself stamping out the cold on Curtain Road, checking Twitter and desperately trying to find somewhere else in the area to fill my lunch hour. There were some excellent suggestions there always are, on Twitter and yet in my infinite wisdom I decided to ignore all of them and head round the corner to Merchant's Tavern, somewhere that had been vaguely on my radar since opening day all the way back in... well a long time ago, anyway.

We were really happy with this place! We were impressed with all the starters we chose, from the crispy pork belly and pickled veg, foi gras with quail roulade and the duck egg served with prosciutto and Parmesan on chunky grilled asparagus. The main special John Dory fish looked average and was described to me like a watery fish' from my fiancé, served in a small broth and wilted lettuce- not my cup of tea, however the succulent pork belly served with garlic kale, a whole roasted carrot and apricot was the perfect blend of flavours, rich and well executed. came from Spain to visit london for some days and my purpose was to taste every single Mexican restaurant because I love Mexican food, so I went to some of them in the center of london, but nothing like this place, since the moment when I went into the beautiful girl with curly hair, was super nice to me and she offers me two possibilities.
