"We wanted to do something good again as a family and had reserved a table for Sunday night in the Inn Spieker in Hövelhof Riege. Through two previous visits 1x wedding day, 1x business dinners, which have been both longer than 2 years ago, this restaurant has remained positive in my memory. In the meantime, I have also heard differing opinions, but this is just one reason to look in again. The Gasthaus Spieker is located on the main road, which does not want much to be called here by the Hövelhofer district Riege. Parking is not a problem, either on the restaurant's own parking or on the street. Ambience: The guest room is divided into an area directly on the counter, a smaller room directly next to it, as well as a bright winter garden, which offers space for 3 4 tables and in which we found our place. The tables are pretty covered, with fabric napkins, cutlery, bread plates and glasses, but without tablecloth. This does nothing in the new wooden tables, on the contrary, it fits wonderfully into the ambience. My youngest one is a little surprised if the many knives and forks lying in his place, but in particular finds the cuddly lambskin lying above his basket chair. In the summer there are still some beautiful places and trees or fixed pavillions, but today they are under water. I like the ambience excellent 5 star service: When entering the restaurant, we were very kindly greeted by the two services present. After a short clarification of the reservation, we had 2 tables to choose from, and, as already written, we selected the one in the very attractive conservatory. The two service workers, a middle-aged lady and a somewhat younger, practiced their crafts very differently. The slightly older, very sovereign, extremely friendly and always with the right comment, the right suggestion or the pleasantly matching small talk. But always extremely professional. When the order was received, for example, it offered a small portion for our youngest and was also completely open to further changes to the courts due to incompatibility in the two children. If we had only been served by this lady, 5 stars would have been safe. The younger of the two, clearly inexperienced, somewhat insecure and not always reliable some enquiries had to be repeated more often, which we also got along with the side tables. To a critique of the duck breast, see below has been announced I give further, but more did not happen to it, no apology, no feedback, shame. Unfortunately, the service of the older colleague was limited to the order intake, the very detailed adoption after payment, as well as some support in serving the main dishes. In combination I get only 3.5 stars map: Unfortunately, the map is not to be found on the restaurant's website, which is somewhat too confusing for my taste anyway. The card contains, as far as I remember, 4 appetizers, and 2 soups, 2 pasta dishes, 2 fish dishes Skrei and Zander as well as 4 meat dishes duck breast, beef fillet, oxenbäckchen and lemon carvings. As an appetizer, my wife ordered the beef carpaccio with parmesan, pine nuts and field salad €12.50 and a robber plate for our youngest. Our great and I shared the Spiekers Tapas 14, €, a compilation from the appetizers offered. As a main dish 2x the pink roasted airflower breast with wokg vegetables, Schupfnudel and 2 kinds of sauces red wine and mango each 21, € 1x lemon carving with garlic vegetables and Schupfnudel instead of Rucola and Gnocci small portion 10.50 € 1x beef fillet medium rare with berugs, red wine sauces and rosemary to share the desserts. Better yet: for the tapas, there were 2 snacks and 2 bowls with ice at no extra cost. For drinking we ordered 1x Spezi 0,3l 3,20 € 1x Sprite 0,2l 2,50 € 1x Mineral Water San Pellegrino 0,75l 6, € 2x Open Red Wine La Ferme du Mont Premiere Cote 0,2l 8,50 € The food: Together with a basket of 2 kinds Baguette and herbal cucumber came as a greeting from the kitchen a small cube of lukewarm quiche. Even though this doesn't just make a buzzing imagination of the kitchen close, the little bite has well-bodied and even our two guys who actually don't stand so much on this kind of salty cake have buryed it in the air. Also the combination baguette with herbal cucumber I would rather sort in under the term standard, but the bread was freshly baked and beautifully crispy and also the herbal cucumber was more than just OK. Appetizers: To the appetizers there were on demand purifier plates for our two guys. However, a 2nd soup had already been served with the mixed appetizer. The Carpaccio was excellent, so the other three told me at the table. Unfortunately, I did not get any more of it, although it was also part of the mixed appetizer. My big one was too fast: but my Spiekers Tapas consisted not only of the Carpaccio but also included other components that I really enjoyed even more. The shrimps on white cabbage with ginger, for example. Here the cook really did everything right And since my big one does not like shrimp or cabbage, I also got everything on my own. The white cabbage was a fool. The light ginger note I did not know about cabbage so far brought a trace of sharpness and some acidity into play, which perfectly rounded off the whole. As a further part of the ensemble there were baked goat cheese in Brickteig on Feldsalat. The goat cheese very tasty, especially with the apricot slices in salad. Brickteig around the cheese was, however, too little baked and more tasty than crispy. And also the salad was more OK than good. As the last component there was a beard liquor cream soup. Since I'm not a real beard fan, the rating here is a little harder. From my point of view, the soup was quite good, but no revelation I have not become a beard fan. According to my family, the Carpaccio has earned 5 stars, the mixed appetizer I would rate for the smashing at the goat's cheese with 3.5 stars. Main dishes: beef fillet with Beluga lenses, rosemary spices and red wine sauce Since this was my main dish, I can report here a little more in detail as far as this court allows that at all. The piece had a pleasant size and was halved with maximum cut surface. It was wonderfully delicate and juicy and tastefully just as I had imagined. The Beluga lenses were lightly cooked with some very finely diced vegetables. Some acidity would have done them well, no Balsamico, who would have covered the lens taste too much, just a very small splash of vininess. The red wine sauce was quite well managed, but by the arrangement on the plate it was very quickly distorted under the lenses and was therefore to be perceived only at the beginning as its own flavor. The rosemary potatoes were of the small variety and were served on the plate, but in a separate peel. Tastefully good, only unfortunately very, very soft boiled before they were resolved in the pan. The comments here are whining at a high level. I think with 4 stars this court is rated correctly. Lemon carving with roasted vegetables and scrub noodles: Pure visually a very beautiful plate. Despite the classification as a small portion, the sliced schnitzel was quite of a remarkable size. The meat according to our carving specialist tenderly and tasty, only in some bites he distorted the face and meant that there was probably an extremely acidic place. The vegetables weren't our son's favorite, just as little puddles. With both, probably more because of personal preferences, the supplements I tried were quite good for my palate. 4 stars so I think I'm attached here. This dish is now making it difficult for me to evaluate. My wife was quite happy with her choice. The meat was not quite perfect, but far more than OK, the wok vegetables and the puddles were very praised. With our great son, however, the flesh was to a large extent so tough that it was not to cut with threats of force. However, only in part and when the service shortly after serving, asked if everything was fine, my grandfather also agreed. So far he had only cut the edible part of the meat. Unfortunately, until practically the end, he did not sound that most of his duck breast was rather unsuitable for consumption. Only when I was finished with my food and saw that he was hard fighting I asked him if I should help him with cutting. The problem was, however, I couldn't change much. I have no idea what to do to a duck so that such a tough thing comes out. She looked beautiful. However, as my son was as tired by appetizer and the already consumed part, as well as the view of a dessert, we left it with a note when she cleared the plates. As mentioned above, she promised to give this further. However, a further reaction was not carried out. Due to the rubber properties of one of the two portions, I can only award 2 stars here. Dessert: Since I have only taken a very good espresso €2.20 to myself, I can only refer to the reactions of the family. The chocolate with vanilla ice cream was very good for children, limiting that the ice in our local ice cream parlour is better. 4 Stars The Grand Manier Parfait with peach sauce was extremely praised by my wife, and with a rating of under 5 stars, a longer-lasting marriage can be the result. Overall, the food of me gets 3.5 stars. Cleanliness: In the guest room itself everything was picobello, no stick was to be seen. However, small smears had to be made on the toilets. Although everything was clean on the first appearance, the floor tended to be lighter tackiness and the container for the use paper towels was already overflowing. Therefore 4 star price performance: Actually, the quoted prices are quite fine. With the slipping out at dinner, however, only 3.5 star conclusion Mostly, I annoyed myself that I didn't complain earlier. Otherwise we had a nice evening and we felt comfortable here. If it turns out, we'll be back."

"The long reunification weekend my wife and I had chosen as an opportunity to finally travel the Emsradweg from the source in Hövelhof to our residence Rheine. On the cycle track, this is about 190 km, we wanted to handle this in 2 stages. So we had done, on Saturday, 01. By train from Rheine to Bielefeld and then stay close to the Star Point. The HP of the bike path offers a good overview of the planning of the tour and for further information I also looked at our forum here. Mr. Blaubär had already paid the restaurant a rated visit which HP of the hotel liked and so we made our overnight stay decision per Piärdestall and booked us a box in the stable. Our start in the stable was already very bumpy! Great confusion when we presented our reservation. The boss had to admit that there had been an overbooking through a mistake in internal planning. The mood fell, it was 6:00, we were somewhere in the middle of nowhere...... ..but the boss had a very quick solution, we would stay in an apartment, but they would have to finish it for our overnight stay. So we put our bikes and luggage under and went to the restaurant. Since this was planned, it was not a big drama. Highest madame complained a little about the fact that she couldn't make herself horny, but more casually dressed (no, we're not on the go in padded cycling pants). In the restaurant, two young men swung the scepter and brought us to our table in winter garden with a view of the beautiful outdoor terrace and the adjoining meadows. I took a look at the ambience. The restaurant has its origin in an old inn and has been continuously expanded, so there were 4 different guest rooms. The gentlemen had good to do on our evening, as a lovely guest group spread over the rooms. We took place on very comfortable wire mesh chairs and saw table covered with love and real flowers. On the table a flyer with various cultural and gastronomic offers until December. Funny I found the Gänse-Taxi offered. By preorder, a ready-made goose could be ordered home in November and December. We ordered two pils by assigning the table and received the cards. The Franconian husband of the boss leads the kitchen while she cares about guests and management. The map has a French impact, but it is more of a kind-bourgeois orientation. The food offered can be quite happy, also vegetarians are thought of. The wine card is relatively thin. A Saint Emilion Grand Cru is the end of the flag bar in demand and price. In view of Blue Bear's criticism, we ordered a bottle of Bordeaux Medoc Chateau Patache D 'Aux and let them get to the table and decanted there. Small mistake of service, the bottle came open to the table, but one was lucky, a test swallow did not give up any complaint and so the wine fled into the decanter and had time to breathe until we started eating. With the wine came a bit of homemade bread with a herbal cucumber. My wife decides in advance for leaf salads with apple, mountain cheese, croutons, pink fried bacon, cranberries, chives from her table side was no suit to hear. She was happy about the preparation. I ordered a flashcake “Mediterran” with feta, chorizo, olives, cheese, rocola, rags Why there was a rocket on it, I didn’t find out so much, but it was quickly removed and under it a well-composed flame cake appeared. The combination of olives, chorizo and cheese was pleasant. Good appetizer. My wife chose lamb fillets with herbs of Provence on jus, seasonal vegetables, potato gratin. The served plate made a very appealing impression. I was allowed to taste the lambs. They were delicate and made to the point pink inside, just like lamb must be. I also liked the Gratin I tried. Only the non-cracked bacon about the beans disintegrated my wife, but she's not the big bacon eater... Hopefully the fish I ordered could keep there: Fresh salmon trout from the Emsquellaue under the horseradish crust on cucumber vegetables in Dillrahmsauce salmon trout has nothing to do with salmon for information for the non-angler, but is a char that receives the red colour of salmon with certain feed additives. According to the map, the fish should be from the region. He was fresh and well prepared. The fillet was on the point even and glazed inside. Unfortunately, the horseradish went down by congratulating something, it hardly warns to taste essential oils and no more sharpness. Very good but and really delicious was the Schmorgurkengemüse! Cucumbers in cream and dill, as with my grandma! On Saturday on the market, cucumbers are bought and I will taste it as delicious. With the salt potatoes a very tasty main course. Finally, we shared a parfait of almonds and marzipan with raspberry sauce. The Marzipan admirer sitting opposite me licked his fingers. But I also liked the simple gang very well. On top turbulent dark chocolate and nuts made for crunch, the slightly acidic sauce was a good counterweight to the parfait! Fine! With an espresso we closed our evening in the restaurant of the Piärdestall. The service worked well and well, at the end the young men had to go far ways in the house and it sometimes took some time until they were back with us, but we were not forgotten. The boss gave us the room key during the meal. That worked well. We spent a quiet night in the very large apartment and were served the next day a decent breakfast from Maitre to the table. This was also convincing in view of the price of 80 EUR, including breakfast. Thus, to the conclusion of our stay in the stable (we are now staying at the high German). Small blood pressure booster at the beginning, but he could be quickly fixed, then we had a nice evening and a good night in the stable. On occasion we are happy to return and recommend the hotel restaurant. The price indicated refers to the restaurant bill."
