"I understand that the premises are due for a refurb which is a positive. We arrived at where we assumed the meet and greet was to be ignored initially. Service wasn’t great to be honest. No friendly banter. Menu was just about ok for choice and value but childrens menu really needs more thought! We were seated at around 5pm in relative quiet by 5:30 pm there were a lot more diners but the bar area was filling rapidly and soon folk spilled outside. Noise levels became a problem in my view. A trip to the toilet became impossible as drinkers didn’t want to move aside. It was easier to make the return trip via another outside route. Would I return? Perhaps after the refurb. Location ideal after visiting Attingham Park."

excellent eating, appetizers were just the right size, mains were on the big size, but well cooked and well presented service was great and quite sppedy as well as prices were reasonably completely recommended View menu

cheap brot, thick double boiled with hard speck on the club sandwich. massive thick lumps ham and burnt chips on the sink and chips. long-term ignored by the employees. in fairness, the main courses were deducted after complaining from the bill, but at this time our lunch was completely ruined.

the staff was friendly and helpful. the menu choice was limited to the first view, but actually covered all the bases including vegan. we were four nights and had no problem finding various items for lunch and dinner. in all cases the food was delicious, well prepared and worth for money. the Christmas menu was excellent. highly recommended.

the service was very good, but eating was not visited with earlier. the menu choice was not particularly stimulating, and my father commented that his steak was pretty hard and dry. Unfortunately, our little party was sitting by three right next to a big party that was rather rough - no critique on them, but a quiet spot would have been appreciated. View menu

the meatcake was amazing. the sink carving fine, but no veg! the personal was brilliant and charming. our two-bedded room in the stable block was the price-performance ratio regarding the good choice for the breakfast included in the price) and in the room good tea selection, coffee, full care products such as shampoo etc. hand towels, bed linen etc. carpet must be renewed as it is very stained. painting especially around the door badly marked. matratze clumpy and thin, but we both slept well in our beds!

The location was ideal just beside the River Severn. Opposite a National Trust site Attingham Park. The dining area was spacious and had a nice feeling. The food was very good, however I would prefer my food served on plates, for example the starter was served on a slate tile, the rest of the servings were on plates? The Chips although very good were served in a metal miniature pail just put them onto the plate please. The STEAK was Excellent and cooked to Perfection. The other moan I have is the menus were photocopied papers rather than in folders. However I would definitely book again as the quality of Service and Food was very good and at a reasonable price. I would also reccommend it to...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
