"We visited this restaurant on a whim following a long day of walking aimlessly through the streets of central Hamburg, and we were certainly grateful to find such a relaxing temperate atmosphere compared to the busy high streets. The food was very well cooked, rather filling considering the price they gave, and convincingly authentic making the visit a wonderful surprise. The flavours were plentiful, and a real excitement in contrast to much other Asian cuisine I have tried; I would not call myself an expert though. The service was a mixed experience - the meal was brought through very quickly, despite us ordering off menu items. However, our waiter seemed a little nonchalant regarding our hospitality which slightly spoilt the experience. Nonetheless, we were not speaking their native nor second language which made it difficult to converse, thus a lot of respect is deserved for them coping.I would highly recommend this delight to anyone looking for a cheap place to eat, a quick yet satisfying meal or a resident looking for something different from the usual extravagance Hamburg has to offer. Bear in mind the place itself is not particularly special, hence it is perhaps not ideal for important occasions."

As it was the only place opened at 9pm we went in. And to be honest I was really positively supposed. The food was really good and served nicely. I had red curry tofu and really enjoyed it. Also the prices are really affordable. Basically a good place to eat a lunch and dinner. View menu

I was looking forward to eating here, after reading that the restaurant uses no flavor enhancers. True enough, I didn't get all the reactions I do from food with monosodium glutamate. This is definitely my kind of place. It is rare for an Asian restaurant to skip the use of this white powder, which is really bad for the health. The food was great, and so was Nguyen.

We came across this restaurant by accident, and the aromas and ease of finding a seat enticed us in late afternoon / early evening. We sat outside on the mezzanine and experienced very generous portions of delicious food at a very reasonable price.Well worth a visit, although the atmosphere dips as the shops shut and the arcade becomes quieter. Perfect for peace and quiet to go with the tasty food.

We stumbled across this bustling Vietnamese restaurant which was close to our hotel. We were not disappointed. After eating mostly Western cuisine on our trip, I was delighted to experience a favorite dish with Pho, it was truly authentic and enjoyable. The restaurant was obviously a local favorite as it was full and turning over tables quickly with the fast service. A real treat and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend. The beef Pho was delicious! View menu

We met our uncle and aunt there over lunch. The restaurant has a faux tree in the middle of the room with lantern hanging from them. We ordered drinks and lunch, which was brought out shortly thereafter My cappuccino was cold but sever apologized and reheated the coffee. I ordered a wonton soup and spring rolls. There are 8 small rolls with a dipping sauce on it. My sister had noodles with meat, chicken with peanut sauce, chicken curry and crispy duck. In overall service was good but there is room for improvement as far as quality of food is concern,

This is a restaurant within a small shopping complex. Prices are cheap but service lacks a certain warmth although we did find this mostly everywhere in Hamburg when it came to service. The crab starter was stone cold frozen in the middle which made me fear I would be sick the next day but thankfully wasn't. The mains arrived before our starters had even been cleared? Nobody enquired how our meals were. The Pho main lacked flavour but was a very generous portion. It was a good value meal but I would much rather pay slightly more for better quality food and service.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
