Friendly Spanish waitresses, real tapas and good cheap red wine. Four of us filled up happily for 52 euros. Yum!

I really like this place, has simple dishes and small menu, not many positions but everything is very real and tastes like in Spain. I personally love the gambas and the pulp. On Tuesday they have Copa y Tapa for 3 euros.

Great spot for tapas. Food is of good quality and the staff are friendly. Quite busy, particularly at weekend so book ahead. P.S. I wish you opened on Saturday or Sunday for lunch. I'd be there every weekend with my family

We wandered in at 10 p.m. and the place was packed (it is rather small.) We waited about 15 minutes for a table to become available. We were waited on quickly and ordered five tapas, a bottle of wine and a beer. We had croquettes, shrimp, sauteed sweet jalapenos, a cheese plate with bread and something else that I don't remember. I've never been to the Basque Country, but after my second stint at this restaurant/bar, I sure will make it a top priority on my travelling list. Their tapas (and wine) are just too good not to make you want to go on a culinary tour there: the fried peppers were just the right blend of bitter, sweet and salty, the sardines a wonderful lemony breeze hailing from the sea, and the grilled octopus… oh that wonderful husky-caramel taste! Try anything from their cold and warm tapas menue, couple it with one of their red wines, and go have your very own Eureka! – sorry, Euskal Herria! moment. You will see, you'll have found your new favourite food joint in Berlin!

When I miss home, the chistorra from On Egin brings me back there. It comes on a bed of baked potato and apple that is just wonderful. I just wish the portion was bigger. My friends and I loved the bravas and the gambas. The...octopus was a bit dry, although the pimientos made up for it. The croquetas were creamy in texture, but I expected more flavor when they told me they had chistorra and morcilla. Overall really good Spanish food, not so easy to find! The price was fine, given the quality of the ingredients. The service was on point, the waitresses were great although the place was totally full. After desserts the house invited to chupitos (shots) Absolutely recommended!

On Egin being a Basque restaurant, the tapas are a little bit different than the best-known Spanish favourites. The dishes are generous enough that two will be a light dinner - although it is hard to choose just two, so I recommend going with some friends and get a few to share! Popular standards include patatas bravas, meatballs in tomato sauce and roasted green peppers, but it is worth checking out the changing specials. We had grilled octopus, spicy sausages with apple and potato, cod with peas and slow-cooked lamb. The lamb melted in the mouth, the spiciness of the sausages was nicely balanced by the apple and potato, and the octopus was succulent. The cod and peas however was a bit blan... View menu
