"Not sure if there was a lift but if not disabled access is non existent. Would benefit from background music subtle lighting and a few plants and lamps it’s very clean but clinical and austere. Condiments were requested before food arrived but were left with meal going cold whilst they arrived. Wine choice was Merlot which the waiter thought was on the wine list but alas it was not Shiraz was a pleasant alternative. Although lamb had a tasty bbq taste there was a lot of waste from gristle and sinew the tomato was nice but cold. The meal arrived very quickly more like a cafe than restaurant and thought being called ‘guys’ all the time wasn’t what you would expect"

Provenance is a charming restaurant located on a less than charming High Street. The service was excellent and definitely worth a visit.

We've used provenance 4 or 5 times in the past year and always had good food and service. This time the service was disorganised, the food well below average.

Tuesday special steak night £12.50 sounded good. Nice food but 30 mins between starter and main without any explanation or apology isnt realy good enough in a small venue which wasnt particularily busy. Will try again as the value for money and taste if the food was excellent. View menu

Provenance’s food is always amazing and worth the trip. It would be perfect if the service matched. It’s slow, so don’t go if don’t have time to linger. 20 mins before drinks order taken and 40 mins before food order taken. After that the food arrived quite quickly but it is frustrating to wait so long to order. The accompanying sauces also never arrived having been asked the question. Oh well, I will go back because the food never fails but ensure I have time on my side.

restaurant is very clean with ample seating. went on the steak night to celebrate my birthday with our friends. took a while to get our drinks on a couple of occasions (we later learned that they was a member of staff down and this 1 poor lad was running around dealing with all restaurant tables. he did a really good job all told. he was helpful ,chirpy and smiley . food came on time. food quality was great. will try again on another night just so we can try the other menu choices.

"A special Event in a special Restaurant. My Wife and I visited the Holiday Inn near Bolton town centre for a special birthday treat in early June 2016. We had pre booked a table in the superb Hardies Restaurant and on arrival we were quickly shown to our table by the very efficient young lady who looked after us all evening She was very attentive without being obtrusive, Starters were chosen, ordered, and delivered within about 15 minutes. Kathleen’s Pate was a rather generous portion and she declared that it was at least as good as any she had tasted before. My choice was deep fried Goats cheese, this was very authentic and enjoyable. For Mains we finally settled on A Lamb shank for Kath which she said was Amazing, whilst I settled for the superb Cod in batter with chips and peas, a simple traditional dish but beautiful and rather large portion. Desserts took us quite a few minutes to decide on. Kath chose Hot apple pudding with a vanilla sauce. I decided on a fresh fruit salad with ice cream served on a large platter I counted nine different fruits all seasonal and extremely fresh. We both tasted each other’s desserts the apple pudding was also very nice. The waitress offered us cheese and biscuits but quite honestly by this time we were to put it bluntly, stuffed. The verdict was a truly excellent meal, time to retreat to the adjoining bar for a pleasant hours relaxation. To conclude we made the right choice to have our special event at Hardies and we will definitely visit again. Thanks to all concerned."
