"I’m sorry , but I’m calling out the last three reviewers as being either liars, bots, or perhaps competitors! The Raj , in terms of quality and value, is the best restaurant on the Gloucester Road , which is a tremendously high bar. Ash...and his front of house team are so welcoming , friendly and helpful , and make every visit a genuine pleasure. I come here with my sons regularly , and the food is superb . We travel around the UK through work, and have eaten in many expensive Indian restaurants around Birmingham and the midlands, but this is easily our favourite . This is a stylish, inviting place to eat, and it’s always busy, which speaks volumes for its quality. I never trust a one star review , and you shouldn’t either. I actually find it pretty disgusting that after the last two years, in which small businesses like the Raj have struggled so hard to survive and continue to offer their service to the community, you will still find people trying to put the boot in. I genuinely wonder about their motivations ."

Food was not great. Barely any lamb in my curry. Rice portions are a joke. Took two hours to have poppadoms, bhaji, and a main. They are obviously obsessed with keeping uber eats happy. Just a ****, expensive, dump of a gaff. Avoid.

Should have read previous comments, but anyhow gave them a try will never me visiting this place again, tastless food, you know the sort lots of colouring on kebabs type, and very very slow service. Did not know they are star on hygiene!! View menu

Food was pretty tasty, good value and you can bring your own booze which is cool. But, the service was lacking slightly and the restaurant itself was possibly the brightest restaurant we’ve ever eaten in. No need for the lights to be so strong; it...gave the place more of a canteen vibe.

Food was fantastic and service was so attentive and lovely. We are visiting for the week and are already considering coming back at the end of the week. Lamb curry with olives and feta and a bhuna sauce was fantastic, as was all of the...other food. Environment is lovely with beautiful and the family have been here for over years. It's bring your own booze which is great and keeps the price really reasonable! I cannot recommend enough!!

We didn't have a booking, but were offered a table at about pm on a Saturday night. There was a long queue of takeaway companies waiting for their orders, which I think were taking priority over table guests. After a minute wait, our...food arrived. The quantities were very small. Main course dishes were served in small desert bowlsl containing about desert spoons of sauce. We ordered main courses between of us and it wasn't enough to go with the rice and nan that we had ordered What made this worse was that the people in the table next to ours were given their main courses in much larger bowls. It felt like a point was being made. We were charged full price despite the portions being of sid... View menu

How the heady have fallen, stars on food hygiene and this is translating back on the food and service. Was a regular patron for them and last few occasions were so poor and felt so aggrieved . Became very unhappy from these visits and...did some reserach on the South Glos website and noticed their food rating was average. which concerned even more.. Curries all seem to taste the same, place has had a long needed makeover but this has taken away the atmosphere. Often busy but usually full of drunks from the local pub and this is what i guess they are more interested in nowadays. Service also below par and food very average to mediocre. Your choice if your prefer going to a star or star? Dont...

So having been here a few times now and finding it very consistent I was looking forward to another visit although the first since the pandemic began. However it has gone seriously downhill IMO and I will not be returning. From the moment we walked...in and one of the staff interrupted another staff member whilst they were speaking to us to the same member of staff being borderline rude throughout. We ordered are meals and he was already walking off before we finished our order, when the food came it was stone cold and so Some of the dishes had to go back. The only saving grace was decent company and the other staff member who welcomed us and said goodbye. The place looks nice guys but remem...

"Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me! . Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend."
