"I thought I had walked into the restaurant in Fawlty Towers, especially when we had to ask for everything at least twice and the pleasant young girl put our wine on the table unopened. Asked if she could get anything else to which I replied, an open bottle of wine would be good. She tried to open a cork bottle as if it was a screw top!!! When she came back after at least 5 minutes she plonked the bottle on the table and walked off. The two young waiting staff didn’t have a clue what they were doing. After dinner I asked for a Courvoisier Cognac and the young barman looked at me as if I was from outer space. I had to find it on the shelf for him! The hotel itself was fine."

Really really lovely food. Friendly staff. Prompt service. Decor is really dated, menu looks old-could all go with a bit of a revamp View menu

Attractive surroundings and excellent food . On-site parking. A wonderfully quiet atmosphere where you can converse easily with your guests at table.

Did not clear 4th setting on 3 person table. Slow service. Food very good. Servers not trained to restaurant standards though nice people. Food best element.

We were a group of 4 friends in Oxford on a Saturday night. It was a lovely looking, comfy restaurant and the staff were very friendly. However for some reason we were the only people eating between 8pm and 9:30pm so it was a very quiet atmosphere. There were a couple of things on the menu that were unavailable too. View menu

We had booked for the restaurant and the full menu, which you had confirmed, so were surprised to find that we were in the bar with only the bar menu. Although we were able to select a hot meal and the ambience was quiet and restful it would have been helpful if you could have informed us of the change in arrangement before the day.

I booked at the resteraunt as I was staying at the hotel. When I went downstairs it was closed. They had set me a table in the bar. As I was the only one eating it was a bit odd. I was the only person to eat, I doubt they had an entire kitchen of staff cooking fresh for me. The carrot wasn’t cooked through. The food was tasty. But I can’t help thinking some of it was warmed up. For example the Guinea fowl skin wasn’t crispy but looked like it should of been which is why is suspect it was microwaved. The desert wasn’t good. The choux pastry was cold and stale. It wasn’t bad. But it’s trading of an AA rosette.
