"Booked a family dinner for a new year meet up some family members had travelled quite a distance were told last meal orders time was 7.45pm which was fine with us. I’ve been coming here for years and always a great experience but not now. We were rushed from the outset to order food even before half the family had arrived that was only 7.20pm !! We were still finishing drinks just before 9pm when landlord started switching lights off then we’re told to leave as he told his was locking up within minutes!!. Continued his locking up switching off lights as we were practically ushered to the car park ! If we had been told at the booking they were closing at 9 pm then would have chosen to book elsewhere but this was not mentioned nor is it on the opening times of any websites. Never have we experienced anything like it. There is no point in finding the words to describe the level of poor service, hospitality and impact on our lovely family get together as you can all imagine it was basically very upsetting. Won’t be returning either !!!"

Lovely setting, good food and the waitress was really welcoming and friendly. The doggie food menu was bonus, our pooch really enjoyed his chicken bites and puppacino. So peaceful and relaxing, would recommend and definitely visiting again View menu

Called in off the cuff, 6 of us. I’ve been in before and was ok, Went in on Saturday 3/2/24, had really gone up a step, especially the food, I can’t praise it enough, excellent Menu, all of us had a starter and a main and everyone thought it was excellent. Changing the menu regular for variety and looking forward to trying it again. Try it, you won’t be disappointed

Great place good parking and great choice of beers and spirit's excellent food very clean and user friendly. Must be a real credit to the j Lee's chain. More recent visit and the place is now alive with kids area outside and staff to help and great to see a great thriving pub restaurant keep up the good work. Great festive choices available. Great new outside seating area. New menu as of Nov 23

First time we’ve been here, we were looking for somewhere local but different to go to. We were pleasantly surprised. Great food. Sunday roast was tasty great value for the money. Staff were friendly and beer spot on. We will be back. Especially when the weather gets better as they have a great view from the garden. Overall it was a nice atmosphere, we were made to feel welcome and not like strangers. See you soon! View menu

Tried it due to a family member saying it was a nice place to eat, yes it was a nice place lovely out of the way off main roads, I try cheese onion pie wherever it is on a menu. Well this was the worst cheese onion pie I’d ever had, didn’t look too nice either but the taste and look of it was awful. My partner had the steak pie also and he said it wasn’t the best. Served with French fries!!! Not worth the money. The carvery didn’t look to good either, seen plates left with lots left. Won’t be going back

Simister is such a traditional, beautiful looking village, yet despite its surroundings and picturesque views, this pub is below par on lots of levels. It looks tired and dated, cluttered and mismatched in its decor and furniture and the beer garden is lacking in colour that could easily be added by plants and foliage. The food was ok, bland and a tad greasy. Service fast and efficient. Alcohol was very overpriced .Minimum products that were alcohol free. 1 choice of lager or cider, no wine or prosecco) . It lacked atmosphere from entering the building. Shame really as this place has all the foundations for being a little gem.

"Well, it 's been a while since I 've reviewed a place but this little gem has certainly reawakened my vigour for it. Visited this evening as a kind of belated birthday celebration with my husband and son and very glad we did indeed. We happened upon this place a few weeks back (passing by and grabbing a cocktail after the days plans fell through and instantly took to the place and it 's wonderful staff and from the off had intentions to visit again an so finally did tonight), within seconds of seating ourself at the bar we were remembered by the owners, which to me shows great calibre on the customer service front. As someone with an exceptionally sweet tooth when it comes to alcohol it was our lucky day to find they had cocktails on 2for£10 and hell can the owner Jo mix like a minx (even doing us an off menu blend to account for tastes). The husband not being a big drinker happily sat at the bar chatting with staff and customers nursing his Peroni whilst me and my son dived headlong into the extensive classical and modern mixed cocktail list. Having been lured into great expectations (previously sampling delicious tasters) from Jo 's lovely husband Dave on our first brief visit we were definitely eagerly placed to dive into dinner tonight. Our lovely waitress Sian, stood patiently while we chopped and changed idea 's and orders, laughed with us, checked regularly everything was to our tastes as did the other young waitress that dropped drinks over to us. Both girls portraying the perfect mix of friendly and professional, a refreshing change to be served by people that clearly enjoy their working environment. And on to the food... we started with olives (and boy was it a substantial portion in comparison with some establishments weak efforts), hubby was first in there, impressed with the quality of marinade (too many places these days forget the little efforts like this thinking folk can 't differentiate something tipped out of a supermarket packet). After much debate (I had my eye on far too many dishes) choices were made, Hubby had the Filo Kefta, which had a light pastry, adequate spice and smoothly complimentary dip, for main he went with the day 's Special of Lamb with fondant potato, heritage carrots and a divinely velvety Jus which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he 's hard to please, being well versed himself and making a point of getting the lovely Chef Darren a glass of wine in appreciation). The lad had a Sirloin steak burger cooked medium rare and is now demanding we visit again soon. lol I went with the Gravlax to start, instantly aware of the clean flavour from its curing cutting through (I even brought a titbit home for my kitty to enjoy), as for main, I 'd initially had my mind on fish but upon discovering the owner Jo was also a blue steak lover I had to try one there and wow they really take care in choosing their suppliers because that was an A grade cut of meat, even my son (who prefers medium-rare) upon trying a slice said it was an exceptional piece of meat I had it with asparagus, no sauce and swapped out the chips for a feta/pepper bowl which worked perfectly as did the glass of Shiraz that Jo picked out to compliment it for me. Genuinely I can not pick fault (read through my other reviews I write honestly, pick fault where warranted and compliment where due). Had this lovely little find been in our usual local it would surely become a regular haunt ours for sure. I would 100% recommend this place and extend our gratitude to all the staff for making our entire visit memorable and perfect."

"We were in Bury for a few days visiting family and the weather was beautiful , we live on the Wirral and frequently visit Brasco lounge in Liverpool of the same chain , which we love. We actually visited Racconto lounge 3 times on our visit , first time we had a brunch of bacon and egg muffin , which we really enjoyed (although the bacon was very salty) The next day we came back and had a lounge breakfast , and the following day we brought my husbands mum , and drank cups of tea while resting from shopping . We enjoyed all the meals , and its lovely inside , although we ate on the terrace in the sunshine and we found all the staff very pleasant and friendly . But..... we had 2 things let it down for us . Firstly on each occasion , the service was extremely slow, when we had breakfast , it wasn't very busy , but we waited ages , although our tea was brought out well before the food , meaning we then had no drinks to go with the food . The second problem was , after waiting ages , we had to send the breakfast back as it was really cold , and it seemed like it had been sat waiting , almost as long as we had , the bacon on both the breakfast muffin and the breakfast was really , really salty also. None of this would put us off , as we enjoyed the dining experience overall , but if you are in a rush , i really wouldn't recommend eating here , as the wait was alot longer than expected every time ."
