Strand Palace Afternoon Tea

We had afternoon tea, which was lovely! Good value for money, definitely recommend!

The ambience suited the setting. The staff were friendly. The afternoon tea selection was tasty and I enjoyed the different way the sandwiches were presented. I also loved the complimentary proseco and brownie desert to celebrate my birthday

I would not recommend this restaurant. The staff were unhelpful, and we ended up leaving before our order arrived because they insisted that my reservation had been canceled, which it hadn't been. Overall, I wouldn't advise visiting this place. View menu

We arrived at 3.45pm and were not delivered food until 4.30pm . We just sat there waiting . When the food arrived we were not disappointed. I would have liked a few more sandwiches but was told we would have to pay extra . The scones were fantastic

The food was bland, very sweet, and not what we had expected from the menu. The cakes were dry, the sandwiches were bland and one-note. The service was terrible, we had to go up to staff multiple times to get a server to come to our table. The drinks were also extremely strong and awful. Strainer was dirty before using it.

I was very disappointed with our experience. We went for afternoon tea as a Christmas treat with the children. While the sandwiches were tasty, they were also slightly stale. The cakes looked appealing, but they didn't taste as good as they looked. The only difference between the £40 adult serving and the £20 child serving was an extra scone and a garnish cocktail, which consisted of four wilted mini prawns in a shot glass with a piece of cos lettuce. The menu and the setting are good but the service was chaotic. Took a long time to get the tea and then a long time to get the food. It was puzzling as this is all that was being offered… The staff were kind but everything was disorganised. The food was ok, the custard mini tarts were excellent. The bill arrived with service charge already included and we were not asked it it was ok. We did ask to lower it due to the chaotic service, in the end after another wait they removed the service charge completely.

I was really let down by this experience. We decided to treat ourselves to Afternoon Tea for Christmas with the kids, but it was a disappointment. The sandwiches lacked flavor and were a bit stale. The cakes looked nice, but didn't impress in taste either. The only difference between the £40 adult option and the £20 child option was an extra scone and a prawn cocktail that consisted of four limp mini prawns in a shot glass, along with a leaf of cos lettuce. Overall, it felt like poor value for mediocre food.

I was surprised to see only six types of tea on offer; after having attended almost all afternoon teas in London, I expected at least ten selections. When our afternoon tea was served, we joked about getting free refills, but she clarified that there was an additional charge for extras. I was shocked, as I've never encountered that before. Overall, this experience didn't feel worth the price, and there were no themed cakes as advertised. We received three sandwiches each, a tiny prawn cocktail in a shot glass, two scones each, and a small plate with four plain cakes that had no connection to the toyshop theme. This was the most disappointing afternoon tea we've ever experienced. View menu
