"Step inside Sugardough in the Lanes, and you’re whisked away to a whimsical realm where loaves leap off shelves and cappuccinos charm with frothy flourish. This isn’t just a café; it’s a buttery beacon for bread enthusiasts. The moment I crossed the threshold, a symphony of aromas—warm bread, freshly ground coffee, and a hint of nostalgic sweetness—greeted me. The décor, an eclectic mix of rustic tables and quirky knick-knacks, felt like the cozy kitchen of a master baker friend. Seated by the window, I ordered the house special: avocado toast. But dear reader, this was no ordinary toast. The Sugardough was crusty and tangy, the avocado creamy and adorned with chili flakes and olive oil. Each bite was a testament to the alchemy of simplicity. And then there was Toby—the café’s shining star. His genuine warmth transformed the café into a convivial retreat. As a child, I adored rum balls, elusive orbs of rich chocolate and rum that seemed to vanish before I could claim them. Imagine my delight finding them here. Sugardough’s rum balls didn’t disappoint; each bite balanced deep chocolate with a warm, rum embrace—a nostalgic trip down memory lane. In summary, Sugardough is a delightful escape for food lovers, and Toby’s attentive service adds an extra sprinkle of magic."

Place is lovely, food is lovely, staff are friendly but SO slow. Waitresses forget what they’re doing while they’re doing it.

Excellent service. Tried the best bacon butter with homemade tomato ketchup. It certainly lived up to its name and was lovely.

Just shocking service. Waited over an hour for two breakfasts, place wasn’t even full. Cups were dirty. Nothing positive to say. Avoid.

Slowest service ever! The stuff is more interested in socialising with each other rather than serving the people! The portions are very small and not impressive. Thank God I ordered some extra bread to fill myself up. Avoid!!!! View menu

We visited this little spot twice on a hen weekend (2 of us out of the group as it was near out hotel) and had a gorgeous breakfast on the first day quick friendly service, delicious food and coffee (I had the scrambled egg,...

Very poor service, they seemed to prefer to do anything other than assist customers. The prices are sky high over £14 for a croissant, an orange juice and an Americano, and value for money is poor. The food and drink were just fine, but...

The service was so slow! Staff just chatting and plenty of them. Food portions small and over priced. When this fact was pointed out the response was well that 's Brighton for you! . I 've had much cheaper breakfasts in Hampstead so I 'd disagree. View menu

Walking past and decided to go in as fancjed something different. Welcomed by a young girl called Jess. She helped us chose what to have and described ingredients as one of our group has allergies. Served quickly and friendly chatter made us feel very comfortable...

This is the worst place I’ve been in a long time. There are about 8 tables 4 waiting staff and it seems no chef. The menu took ages to arrive, the tea even longer, they forgot to put our order through (2 breakfasts not tricky) 1 hour and 15 mins later everyone around us had been served we walked out .
