"Sycamore is a great addition to the Amersham cafe scene. No name sign up outside but look for the muted salmon pink paintwork. Inside seating is at small or long tables. There are a few seats outside for the occasional sunny day. Light, bright furniture and friendly, informal feel. Order at the counter, trying (in my case unsuccessfully) to resist the highly tempting cakes. The menu is short, a couple of salads, and flatbreads. These flatbreads are spectacular. I loved the fried spicy chicken thighs with harissa dressing and a green herby dressing as an extra (instead of garlic mayo, not for me but a swap was willingly offered). Copious amounts of salad on a thick but fluffy flatbread made this a perfect lunch. Having not resisted the cake, I tucked into a lemon crunch. This was delicious, with creamy sharp lemon filling topped with something light and sugary. Unhealthy, but the flatbread made up for that. Finished off with Darjeeling from a wide choice of teas (more than 2 cups in the pot).I was slightly disconcerted by the fact that lunch was to be eaten off a tray standing in for a plate, and embarrassed myself by checking that this was correct. My view is that plates are better, but then I don’t like eating off slate tiles either!Total bill with service (voluntary) was £14. The staff team were friendly and polite, and helpful. I will be back soon."

Went with some friends for a Sunday morning breakfast. Had some coffee and tea, and the food was amazing. The flavour is just melting in your mouth, you can tell it's good quality food and staff is very friendly and have good suggestions. The eggs were perfectly cooked to my taste, and my boyfriend had the breakfast flatbread that had a interesting harrisa kick to it. Good place for having something different.

Food is artisanal in style, most of which come on or with an absolutely gorgeous flatbread. Prices are about £7–9 for a main meal. I expected something sandwich sized and was instead served a very hearty large meal, with chicken covering the large slab of flatbread in a freshly made sauce. Dhal was reported to be delicious and filling. Vegan options are available. On a slow afternoon just after an average lunch time, food took about 10 mins for two mains. Coffee was smooth, a very well chosen and roasted bean. Espresso came with a delightful dark crema. Would definitely recommend this cafe for coffee lovers, though some might prefer a darker roast. Staff are lovely and happy to help.

One odd thing about this place is that it took a while for it to get a name, and even now, there is no indication of what they sell from the outside. Looking through the door, you can only see a coffee/tea menu and some cakes, with no mention of their breakfast or lunch options. Additionally, there are no opening times displayed outside. It would be beneficial for them to easily display their menu and opening times on the window to attract more customers, as they may be missing out on business in a town full of coffee shops. Especially on a Sunday lunchtime when their two closest competitors are closed, they could be capitalizing on more customers. Despite having a great product, their lack...

"December 2021: Glad to be able to visit The Old Orchard at Christmas. They always have a real fire going and mulled wine. Unfortunately, they hadn't started the mulled cider yet but, had a hot toddy; both were wonderful. Well done guy's for offering these. The food , for starters we shared prawn salad, very refreshing. My partner had the chicken and leek pie which was yummy. I had the salmon, which was disappointing, dry and bland, the veggie accomplishment were tasty. January 2020: I really like this place and come here regularly. Looking forward to coming in summer. Having been here many times over the last 4 months, I have to say the menu is limited and boring. Very surprised they haven't thought of changing it or varying it a bit. Also wish they had a few more cosy tables and chairs. Apart from the 1st time we came always get put on a small table for 2 despite asking for a square 4 table and plenty being available. The service could be better, waiters don't write the order down and then forget to bring you drinks. Despite the above I still like this place but, it's these things that is the difference between nice and amazing. December 2019: Came here on Christmas Eve and had a lovely evening. September 2019:Went to The Old Orchard for drinks and dinner on a Friday night. I hadn't booked a table so we had to wait an hour and a half. Which was fine as it was a nice evening we sat outside then had to move in due to it getting a bit chilly. Would have been nice if they had patio heaters, I would have liked to sit outside. Blankets would also be a nice touch. The views are amazing. Food was very good, facilities were clean and the staff were friendly and provided a great service. I will definitely be coming back."
